Hello Everybody,
We ran a little staff tournament - 12 players from all different departments. We played double elimination and the final four came out:
Nate French, Developer (Agency/Hastur - with one Cthulhu character)
James Hata, Developer (Hastur/Syndicate)
Christian T. Petersen, CEO (Agency/Shub)
Steve Horvath, VP-Marketing (Agency/Miskatonic)
We'll let you know how the final four broke out next week, and who was the big winner, with a look at the winning decks, strategies, pictures, and more!
Until then, speculate...
FFG Staff Tournament 2009
Oh, Donald6, you are SOOOOO Wicked.
I'll put my money on Christian the CEO. If he gets as testy during the Staff Tournament as he did during the Black/White Borders fiasco, none of his employees will dare cross him, and they'll all roll over.
Chick
Chicklewis? Did you come to the dark side? Enjoy it for it is where all us cool kids are.
Sorry, Carioz, to give the wrong impression, but UN coolness is my invariant state.
I'm still on the side of Light, Right, and Fuzzy Slippers.
Chick
Join the dark sie (dark - because we like black boarded playable cards )
Darkside? Hell, I figure we're on the side of the Angels.
So, how did the finals of the staff tournament come out ??
I'm dying to hear.
And what happened to Donald6's original response ??
Chick
Moderated I guess? It was pretty negative, but still . . .
I myself am also wondering the results of the staff tournament.
Agency/Miskatonic !! I like controling strategies.
I don't mind some game videos...
Good luck to everybody!!
Nate beat Steve in the finals.
So Donald6 was correct, as well as very negative.
Thanks for the report.
Chick
My pick got to the finals!!
Thanks for the report!
where are photos you promised?
I'm so curious to see the decklists
So, was this a mixed-border or a white-border tournament?

I must be getting dumber, but I missed the report completely...
Very short report. MattKohls said: "Nate beat Steve in the finals."

Oh, I thought it was a full fledged news article with all the trappings.
Sorry guys but I had to rush to get ready for Comic con and never posted the deck. The tournament was a blast, Nate played brilliantly as usual. He is clearly a devotee of Hastur:) I gave him a good game until a critical error ruined me during our game in third round (you cannot make any mistakes against him period, has Hata found out round two). During the finals he just crushed me flat out, very well played. As I said I ahd a blast and learned a lot my updated deck now has some answers for Hastur and is also faster, I'm looking forward to playing some games at Gen Con with people.
Here is the deck:
3x Descendant of Eibon
2x Marshall Greene
1x Steve Clarney
3x Undercover Security
3x Government Exorist
2x Unorthodox Psychologist
2x Paul Lemond
1x Dr. Ali Kafour
1x Professor Nathaniel Peaslee
3x Anthropology Advisor
3x Chess Prodigy
1x Cafeteria Lady
3x Laboratory Assistant
2x Dr. Carson
3x Short Fuse
3x Shot Gun
2x Shot Gun Blast
3x Small Price to Pay
3x Open for Inspection
2x Sleeping Pills
2x Binding
2x Eldritch Nexus
Let me know what you think.
See you in madness,
Steve
Yours looks like a great deck to include 3X "The Endless Investigation" conspiracy. Pretty much any deck with Anthropology Advisor in it will get two free successes towards winning that story, plus it regenerates !
I was surprised how powerful this card is. I've NEVER used a conspiracy before, but with an Agency/Neutral deck I managed to defeat my nemesis' Shub Regeneration deck, (which nearly always washes over me with the Red Tide) four games out of four !!

Very odd deck... Were you restricted in resource allowed while deckbuilding (i.e. you do not have 3x of every card)?
Different people and different styles, I suppose. Personally, I have a very hard time running with less than 3x of anything in a deck (although with how the numbers add up, that means at least one card will be at 2x), but I'm odd that way.
Definitely negative, although I'll leave it to others to argue over negativity being unhelpful or unwarranted.
