Is it just me, or have we had no really great news for X-Wing in over a month?

I truly and sincerely hope this thread gets locked.

I am happy to assist.

You religious beliefs or lack thereof are misinformed and you are lesser for holding to them. Or refusing to, if you're an atheist.

Your political opinions are likewise poorly considered and ignorant. Did you not see [event that was embarrassing to your favoured party]? Disgraceful. How anyone could still follow them after such a blunder is beyond me.

You don't like bacon enough.

Okay, now you shoot back until this thing turns real and boom, thread locked. Shouldn't take long.

I hastily inform you that you are an internet hobgoblin that no party should nourish with a response. Your views are laughable and I scoff at your simple-mindedness towards [subject here]. Also, your [favored familial relation of choice] is a/an [childish derogatory term].

AKA "I do not like this discussion, please refrain from having this discussion"

AKA "This discussion, if you can even call it that, has been had for the past several months since before Wave 6 even was released and is still raging on. We've had quite a bit of 'inside news' so-to-speak from one of the game designers himself. Also, we just got a FAQ and Tournament Rules update to all of the Official Formats. We also have an entirely new wave of ships that just barely was released that I'm sure not everyone has playtested with enough, myself included. I still need to try my StarViper, HWK and Scyks and about a couple dozen different squads I had made before I even got my hands on my new plastic crack. Seeing as every couple of days there is a new forum thread about the same exact subject instead of, I don't know, continuing on a previous one instead of spamming the forums with the EXACT SAME DISCUSSION and that it all essentially boils down to impatience and anxiousness with no actual substance past guessing when news will drop, yes, I would love for this thread to die a quick death. Please feel free to continue the discussion in a thread that was already existing instead of making a new one every few days."

And you know why we keep talking about the same things over and over? Because there aren't any new things to talk about, phantom change notwithstanding!

For you, somehow, it's super inconvenient that some strangers over the Internet high-five over how they would like some spoilers now. I don't get that. Let me give you a pro tip, don't click on the thread if you don't like the subject!

Uhm... We just got a wave released a few weeks ago. Not to mention Armada. Granted Armada isn't technically X-wing, but for me and my group of friends it is at least the same community.

I like new information/card releases because they keep everyone talking. It is nice to toss ideas around in my group's facebook page. It keep everyone connected.

That said, the release of just one card is enough to start some conversation. I would prefer a lot of smaller disclosures as opposed to one big dump of upcoming content. I know that this would take time, but it doesn't have to be a formal reveal - just a thread in the forum that lists a single upcoming pilot ability would be awesome.

That is precisely what it comes down to, content to discuss. I'm disturbed by those who lack the mental faculties to understand that concept.

The forums seem less busy, x-wing content on YouTube is increasingly sparse.

Something to talk about would be nice.

I understand the desire to keep the spotlight on S&V and Armada, and I have advocated for that approach on these forums.

Releasing a bunch of Raider previews for example right after S&V launched would have been a distraction from the new shiny things we had just bought. I wouldn't mind some more strategy articles on the new faction, written by experienced players on how they are approaching their lists now that there's some more experience under their belts.

Continuing the series of gradual Raider previews now would be fine with me, as we've had some time to digest S&V and get some tournaments in with them.

getting Annie stuck in your head is pretty bad.

just...

let it go.

oh great GroggyGolem,

the ever wise and speaker of the faithful.

thank you for brow beating us lesser persons. we beg your humble forgiveness for not reading every post through its entirety, and forgive us for starting threads you disapprove of.

we beg that you shed your light of truth and wisdom upon us,

honestly, I try to get on this forum as much as possible but don't have the time to go through every topic and read every post, so if I start a topic someone else has already had, I truly am sorry for FORCING you to read yet another. I wont MAKE your mouse click on a topic you are tired of reading about.

everyone please witness that I, as of this moment, relinquish control of all of your computers and will no longer make them click on things you don't want to read.............

You totally get me. What you apparently don't get is how to use the search function on a forum before posting a new thread. Takes a couple seconds, doesn't create spam posts.

You get me too. Wow, it's amazing how internet strangers just totally understand completely instead of becoming defensive and feel the need to become condescending and insulting when a legitimate concern is brought up.

So it's okay to call people retarded now? I thought that was a big no-no. Good on you for really bringing in some fantastic content into the conversation rather than making an insulting statement that was aimed at people who disagree with you. Seriously, you're totally right that there's less content. I mean, aside from all the threads in which battreps are posted, recordings of Store Championship games, whether in video or text, are posted and discussed, where people discuss their squad lists, discussions about how best to use a ship or how to maneuver better, the podcasts and every other thread that actually has anything to do with the game other than "we want news now".

i am frothing at the bit.

And mixing your metaphors

So it's okay to call people retarded now? I thought that was a big no-no.

Legitimate concern? LOL. You were trolling around and I came with a condescending tone, while still being defensive. I'm done here, find somebody else to annoy.

Wait, who are you? Oh, you are nobody.

I have no idea what you are talking about. I didn't read any of your posts. I was referencing someone judgmental.

Also - do not use the word retard. It is not appropriate.

It is a fairly well-known and common thing that you are supposed to search a forum for anything related to what you are about to post before you post it. Hence the reason for the search capability. It could save you quite a lot of time and clog up the forums less with multiple threads on the same topic. Apparently no one does that anymore.

The Phantom nerf has gotten me much more excited than the news about the Raider. Raider fixes the Advanced, one ship. Phantom nerf 'fixes' everything that's not ps 9+ or a turret and makes everything playable again.

Scum is still new, yet the only real impact it has had on the meta has been Dual Aggressor and hypothesizing about 7x Feedback Array Z Swarm, nothing else in scum is really all that viable until April 15th.

So yeah, as much as I want the fabled Bomber fix or TIE Avenger or Missile Boat or to find out more about what comes with the Raider, I'm most excited to be able to fly lists that I actually have fun flying and not autolose to a Phantom. FFG can hold off on the news for all I care.

ok, so not searching the forums for a similar thread, ok, my bad, but knowingly clicking and commenting in a thread you think shouldn't exist?

who is the more foolish? the fool or the fool who follows him?

You're kind of misquoting it there though. This would require one to actually follow you (or myself, I don't deny I'm a fool) not respond to a comment or a thread as that isn't the meaning behind follow in that quote. I'm gonna like that post just because you tried to quote Obi-Wan though.

ParaGoomba Slayer, I agree that the Phantom nerf is actually the most interesting thing to come out in the FAQ. It's gotten me to play Phantoms more often (I didn't before as it never felt very challenging and now it requires more skill to handle well).

I'd disagree on your ideas that only Dual Aggressors have had an impact on the meta by stating that multiple Store Championships have been won by 4x Syndicate Thugs with Ion Cannon Turret, R4 Agromech and BTL-A4 Title. Those things are beastly and incredibly fun to fly.

I have been enjoying all my new ships as well, it's been quite a fun month. I'm fairly content with how things are for now as well.

I'd disagree on your ideas...

They're not debatable "ideas", they're unfounded and trivially disproven assertions. Just ignore him.

He actually used the quote perfectly in this context. He might have done something foolish - the wise thing would have been to ignore it is his point....

I was trying to actually contribute to a conversation of sorts. There was something to discuss there but I'll take your word for it.

I was fairly certain in the context of the conversation between Han and Obi-Wan when Han called him a [curse word] fool and Obi-Wan retorted with that, it was basically saying "I may be a fool but you are actively following me by helping me on my apparent suicide mission so you are the more foolish."

Also, wow, I didn't realize how un-Jedi-like Obi-Wan could get until just now. Han tries to call him a fool and rather than being a peaceful and serene Jedi he snaps back at him with sass.

So, back to the thread at hand, the reason I say that there haven't been many interesting things since the beginning of the year is we've had:

* Announcements of things in the store: yay... but not really new stuff.

* Guest articles: It's great that they exist, but I like the more in-depth off-site articles more (e.g. the article where Paul Heaver details his Han Solo 3 Tala opening, much more interesting than 3 random Scum squads).

* The FAQ update: which of course was big news, but I think everything has been covered fairly quickly because it was only one big change (clarifications weren't necessary for me, never had any disagreements on those) with the Phantom, and that discussion quickly turns sour into the "meta distorted by the phantom" (Funny story, I remember being at a tournament and a guy at the table next to me was complaining about how distorted the meta was about turrets because of the Phantom - he was fielding one of 4 exact copies of Dash-Corran at that tournament)

* The Aggressor article - I think we knew already the abilities but I don't remember from where, last thing spoiled was the dial...

* The Scyk article - we already knew there was a flechette cannon coming, didn't know how it worked (but basically very similar to Flechette Torpedoes, as predicted), we didn't know about the Mangler Cannon.

* The "Calculation" spoiler, the last unspoiled card, which I still think is quite a dud. I have yet to find good consistent use out of it. An EPT needs to have consistent use to be worth the slot IMHO.

The Tie Advanced/X1 was a lot more exciting because it basically introduced a new ship to the Empire. (Hey guys, remember wave2? I didn't like running big ships back then, and as an Empire player, I had a total of *1* ship available for list-building, because of the TIE Advanced being severely overcosted and the Interceptor being generally unreliable with dice).

Otherwise, it's been a while since we had new cool stuff to discuss.

Yes, but they waited a month before telling us!

I hope they do a "behind the scenes" of the development of the raider.
