Dayton OH Regional

By NorseJedi, in X-Wing Organized Play

Does anyone know when the regional tournament in Dayton will be scheduled? It has been listed as TBD for several weeks now, but is one of the closer ones to me and many other MI players. Any locals in Dayton who can get the scoop for us? Thanks!

They are listed on their site as June 6th. I called them and they said pre-registration will be at 10am and start games at 11am.

Like I said in the post just before your post. I called them and confirmed it.

Unless they changed the date as of last week it was supposed to be June 6th.

It was listed on here as June 6th too.

I called Epic Loot and was quoted a different dat than either of those, but I did not get the impression that the employee was familiar with X-Wing (no offense intended, we all have different flavors of gaming). The original FFG site date was 6/6, but then switched to TBD, and now has been listed as 5/30. I am inclined to trust the FFG organized play site, but I don't feel like the dust has settled at the store level... There are several regular X-Wing tournaments on their store calendar, but none listed as regionals yet. Saturday May 30th does not have any X-Wing listed on their calendar as of this AM. My main point is I'm eager to sign up once I know the date is firm and is one that I'm free :-)

I called back and talked to a manager and he said they were supposed to do it on June 6th but since Origin Games Convention is the same day they changed it to May 30th.

Yup, I just messaged them on Facebook and they told me the same thing. So May 30th it is... and even better, I can now go!!!

I can't go now. I already have Reds tickets for that day.

They now have an event for the regional tournament on their calendar. It's listed as 10am–8pm May 30, with the following description:

Registration starts at 10am, play starts at 11am.

$10 entry fee

65 minute rounds

Rounds based on attendance

Capped at 64 players

I'm surprised the cap is 64 players. Seemed like the store was bigger than that. Does anyone know whether they will allow people to preregister, like a day or so before? I'd be pretty disappointed if I make the hour-and-a-half trip only to find the tournament's already full.

And aren't they supposed to be 75 minute rounds per the info that's included in the Regional kit? I thought I read that in another thread, so I have no clue how accurate that might be...

Epic Loot's phone is: 937-436-7305

Yes, I was allowed to pre-register over the phone and they aren't requiring payment until you show up.

And yes, it should be 75 minute round minimum per the regional rules.

Epic Loot was last year as well. Cap at 64 is fine for that place. By round 3, i think the field had dropped down into the 40's anyway. 64 might also be the max on Regional alt art cards they were provided...

Too bad i can't make it. Oh well...GenCon or bust for me!

Wondering if there is a Wednesday night X-Wing in Dayton. I'll be there this week and was looking to bring a squad. Thanks!

Will more tournaments be held in Dayton, OH in the future or was this more or less a one-time thing? I just got into the game with a friend and we would love to play a tournament! Dayton is close enough we could try it!

I am sure that store has small tournaments all the time. The regional only happens once a year and is dependent on if they get selected to have it.

Excellent! I'm excited to get into this game partially because of the active tournament scene. So finding places near me that will be active is key.
