Fly Casual - Flew the Coop

By bubblepopmei, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Fly Casual is stated as released in the FFG News but is nowhere to be seen in the 4th largest market in North America, Toronto. (Well 3rd largest if you don't count Mexico City, and who does amirite?!?)

What the heck is going on? I'm not paying 50$ USD to get a book direct from FFG when my FLGS expected it months ago.

Strike is over. Do a thing.

I got it just fine when it came out just down the highway in K-town.

I think it is one of the most popular supplements.

Could be that everyone who could grabbed one

I can feel that pain. I was a playtester on FC, my name is in the book (wheee!), but when I ordered it direct from FFG, my order was in "pending shipping" status for like two weeks, it was a terrible wait!

Wichita, Kansas, which isn't even close to the largest market in the country, has a couple great game stores, one of which carries every Star Wars book FFG sells, so I guess I got lucky.

My dM has one, uk

This may be your issue. If you didn't snag a copy of the "Han Solo/Lando Calrissian" book when it first came out then it may not be available for now.

There are some complaints about the Canadian distributor of FFG products.

I have heard several FLGS have choice words about fulfillment and restock speed.

Maybe its linked to them hiring a new warehouse person before lol. Whoever they had before ragequit because they weren't getting enough XP

We could all use more XP!^___^

Does the shop have additional copies? Please send me details via private message. I will dispatch an agent.

Ottawa here,

All my stores haven't received a copy of Fly Casual yet. They have called their suppliers and as of right now its a big "I dunno" from everyone. None of my stores can tell me when they are getting the product because their suppliers aren't telling them either.

It is weird that all 6 of my stores are just shrugging their shoulders and wiating.

I tried to order online from one place, and after purchasing it, it came back and said "we are unsure of the next time we receive stock, are you willing to wait up to 180 business days for the next shipment"
My answer was "no"

I ordered from Amazon now, didnt look like many other options

I'm in Winnipeg, but just order through Miniature Market in the US. It might cost a bit more, but they're reliable.

You know what this means, right. . . . . ? ROAD TRIP!!!

I feel your pain. I've been calling 401 Games, like, every day since release. :\

After release, I went into my flgs here in K-town B.C., ordered a copy, and it showed the next week. According to my shop owner, his only FFG supplier, sounds like the same one for all of Canada, is located in Ontario. I'm surprised you guys are having so much trouble. Then again, I've had trouble picking up FFG Star Wars book beyond a month after release, had to pick up a few books at the Sentry Box in Cow Town last year when I missed their release date.

I have deployed a resource to one of several k-towns in an effort to acquire the product. I will not brook failure.

Ahhhhhhaaahhaaaaaa…. I got goosebumps. This is so sophisticated!!!! Pressing the "like" button simply does not cover this.

Well, the Warriorlady's having it lying around in all her European stores, seemingly.

Alas, Fly Casual was out of stock at that location. I will have to check elsewhere. Thanks for the tip. If anyone else has any leads, please let me know.

Lion Rampant imports who I believe still has the full distribution rights in Canada, always gets FFG stuff a few days to a week later. Remember they do every store in Canada, and they are based out of Hamilton, Ontario. So they get busy. If there was a magic launch, that would take preference over other things as well.

The point is, be patient.

Be patient for a product that has been listed as available for a month? No.

Exclusive distribution is a mistake. This is yet another in a long series of reasons why a single company should not be the only shop in town to handle a company's product - certainly not FFG, whose popularity is greatly expanding and their product line ever growing.

Not withstanding the fact that there is an increasingly poor reputation regarding the only Canadian distributor, even the most wonderful of organizations would be unable to adequately do the job. Case in point - sit down FFG customers, we have prioritized WotC customers. BE PATIENT.

Nonsense. Utter nonsense. I urge FFG to consider alternatives to distribution beyond the Wall as soon as they are able to. On this topic but off product topic - they sent both regional kits to a tiny market in Northern Ontario rather than sending any at all to the 4th largest market in N. America. That is just bad business.

On the original topic - I called a dozen FLGSs and several should be receiving stock this week. Whichever gets it in first gets my money. Precisely why a monopoly is a bad idea.
