Sign the Flurry cometh?

By R22, in Star Wars: Armada

Just noticed in an old article for the SW RPG that an old favorite of mine was pictured: The Flurry from "Truce at Bakura." It's the ship on the right in the image below, taken from the article ( Cleared for Launch, RPG Sourcebook Announcement ). I'm not really a subscriber to the theory that FFG spoils ships in artwork but I'd be happy to see this one come true eventually.

I love the Flurry, it was exactly what it looks like: a massive hanger affixed to a hyperdrive and command nub. It carried several squadrons of starfighters but carried little defense otherwise. I think this would make an awesome Rebel ship at some point. Give it a high squadron command, some fun squadron themed titles, and otherwise leave it weak. Gives the Rebel player a great squadron control ship that likewise has to be defended because it's weak as all heck.

Oh I hope so! I was fascinated by the Flurry when I read that book - it would be very exciting to see it implemented in Armada. I agree that it would have to rely on starfighter synergy, and maybe give it some teeth in its anti-squadron armament to encourage being in the thick of the dogfights. Definitely very weak in terms of its direct fire capabilities, but between a high squadron command and fair anti-squadron armament it is there to blow up the fighter screens and facilitate friendly fighter runs on a ship. It may also be an interesting way to sneak Luke or Wedge in as Officers that provide squadron specific benefits...

I would have been shocked if it didn't wind up in the first few waves. It fits too well in the game. Imperial Escort Carrier should make an appearance too.

I've never really understood the love for the Flurry....it's virtually unarmed, and extremely fragile. it's just a box to carry fighters long distances. I really dont see how it would be fun in game.

I'd be happy to be proven wrong though, and it is a decent-ish looking ship. I just think there's way more interesting options around.

I'm all for EU content being in this game, but the Flurry would be a rather ugly model to look at. I doubt we'll ever see it, but then again they're releasing the Punishing One in Wave 2 and that thing looks terrible. So who knows!
