Replacing the Rookie Pilot in Biggs Walks the Dogs

By Squark, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Biggs Walks the Dogs has appealed to me as a list for a while, but I'm not very fond of generic X-wings. They're just so... unremarkable. However, the classic list has two dagger squadron pilots, and downgrading them to blue squadron pilots (There's not some reason the list needed them at PS4, was there?) gives me 4 more points to play with. And there are a lot of options available at 25 points...

So, here's the base list

Biggs Darklighter -25 points

Blue Squadron Pilot -22 points

-Advanced Sensors (3)

Blue Squadron Pilot -22 points

-Advanced Sensors (3)

Subtotal: 75 points

With 25 points, a couple of things come to mind with my collection

-Roark Garnett with Ion Cannon Turret and Nien Nub: Roark lets one of the ships shoot first, and provides some control options. This'd also give me a chance to run the HWK-290 I got for my birthday.

-A Prototype pilot and 10 points of upgrades: Tricking out the b-wings or Giving Biggs a shield upgrade has potential.

-A Warthog: This'd require me to pick up most wanted and a Y-wing, but as you might have guessed from the fact I own a Firespray and a Hwk Freightor, I was already planning to do that. Of course, this leaves me with 2 points left, and since I won't be picking up the GR-70 any time soon, Stressbot isn't an option. What would fit into the list? An R7 for Biggs?

The first thing I thought of was Stressbot Warthog, and then I read the rest of your message. I would recommend that personally, but if that's not an option, then I'd say look to the A wing. Instead of really wasting 10 points of upgrades on the other ships, I would suggest pouring them into the A wing itself.

As a 25 point A wing, I would suggest the following options:

1) Jake w/ CR, VI, LW

2) Jake w/ CR, VI, AT (though I prefer LW)

3) Green w/ CR, PTL, Outmaneuver, AT

4) Green w/ Prockets, PTL

5) Green w/ CR, Outmaneuver, Predator, AT

you could slap on panic attack's ICT gold w/stress bot to slow down arc dodgers

Don't forget Tarn w/ R7 - that is, if you aren't terribly opposed to an x-wing.

Why not a 3rd Blue with AS?

Why not a 3rd Blue with AS?

I don't particularly care to pick up a third b-wing, and I'm sharing one copy of AS between the two of them as is.

Regarding Tarn and Stressbot: I'm aware of them, but like I said in the OP, I don't see myself picking up the GR70 (Maybe I should have called it the rebel transport instead) any time soon. Otherwise, Tarn or a stressbot warthog would be the obvious choices, yeah.

A pair of Bandits might be nice. It gets you a little extra bulk and an extra body to block up the works. Throw Biggs behind the B-Wings and bring the Bandits in from the flanks. If your opponent tries to pick off the Z-95s hoping for a couple of easy kills that Biggs doesn't interfere with, Biggs and the Bs should have been able to put the hurt on something.

Flew the list with a Gold Squadron Warthog with a Siesmic Charge on Friday.

It did great, but part of that was my opponent was a bit out of practice and forgot a number of things, leading to what was basically a perfect turn where Biggs tanked shooting from four ships and survived, and then all four of those ships flew into the siesmic charge, Wrecking two X-wings and damaging a pair of z-95s. I do want to try out the Z-95s, though.

Airen Cracken with Swarm Tactics is probably one of the better replacements for a stock Rookie.

Try a Green Squadron Pilot with Chardaan Refit, Push the Limit, and Autothrusters for 22 points to give a good flanker.

With the spare 3 points, either make Biggs hardier by adding a Hull Upgrade or Stealth Device, or adding B-Wing/E2 + Tactician to one of the B-Wings to add a control element to the list.
