IG-2000 Card - Am I doing it Wrong?

By Rottenreason, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Last night I setup 2 IG-8800 ships and I gave them both the exact same mods. However, the more I thought about it the more I felt like I defeated the point of the title card. Correct me if I'm wrong but if I give IG88A expert handling and both A and B are using the title they would both have expert handling even though B is not using the expert handing card?

No!

The title card only transfers the pilot ability. That's the text written on the ship card.

The title does not work with elite pilot talents white-metal-icon.png like expert handling.

No. The IG-2000 title allows other ships with the title to share their pilot abilities, the ability written on the pilot card. Expert Handling is an Elite Pilot Talent, it's not a pilot ability, IG-2000 doesn't apply.

The IG-2000 Title card only applies to the Pilot Ability (i.e.: the ability that is printed on the pilot card).

It does not apply to Elite Talents or any other equipped upgrades.

Edit: Holy ninja batman!

Edit 2: If I'm last, I may as well be thorough...

The IG-2000 title states the following:

"You have the pilot ability of each other friendly ship with the IG-2000 Upgrade card (in addition to your own pilot ability)."

It specifically refers only to "pilot ability".

If we look at the Injured Pilot damage card:

"All players must ignore your pilot ability and all of your (pilot skill) upgrade cards."

It refers to both "pilot ability" and "(pilot skill) upgrade cards".

I hope this clears up any confusion :)

Yeah you're doing it wrong.

The title doesn't let you share Elite Pilot upgrades, it only lets you share the pilot ability that each IG 88 has.

So if you have IG-88C and IG-88B on the table, IG-88C gets B's ability to take a shot with a cannon if he misses, on top of C's free Evade action after performing a boost. Likewise B gets the free Evade action from C.

You only get the ability printed on the ship card, not any upgrades you may put on it.

This does clear it up.

One that that crossed my mind was ok if IG88B is using a Ion (physical gun installed on the ship) how could IG88C use the gun if it's not phyiscally install on the ship. The title "only" refers to Pilots ability or skill in text.

The title doesn't duplicate the ship. It only makes the pilot's unique ability available to other IG-2000s.
