First Impressions from Steam Version

By Budgernaut, in BattleLore: Command

I've played 3 scenarios so far on the Steam Version. My biggest gripe so far is the camera. Maybe I just haven't figured out the secret, but I can't seem to get it to zoom and rotate. Also, it seems to be a direct port from the mobile version because some of the loading screen tips mention tablet-specific things like using your fingers to pinch and rotate the screen to control the camera.

Dice-wise, I haven't run into any of the proportion skew that others have complained about. Maybe that was fixed in the update patch or maybe it was never really an issue.

Overall, I like the game. I think I'd still rather play the board game, but the scenarios feel pretty different from the standard skirmish setup of the boardgame which is nice. It doesn't feel like I bought the same game twice.

One thing the electronic version does that I absolutely adore is add more lore. I'm not talking about lore cards or the lore mechanic, I'm talking about fluff. The campaign has a loose story with names of people and places and the narrator has a great voice for the Daqan Lords campaign. I wish the board game had a little more fluff.

[Further update: I don't know if this has been mentioned elsewhere, but the Chaos Lord got a movement boost. It has a move of 2 instead of 1. I gotta say I'm not a real fan of this. I really liked the Uthuk Y'llan being the slow army. But the biggest problem I have is that it feels like the developers are admitting that they made a mistake with the Chaos Lord so now my Chaos Lord in the board game feels broken (in the bad way.)]
