180pt Core Set Battle: Advanced Gunnery AAR

By WWPDSteven, in Star Wars: Armada

Hey guys, I posted up a brief AAR over on my site Outpost Zero. We did 180 pts from the core and randomly drew just one objective.

We tried a 180 point game with a slight modification of the starter fleets listed here. The random mission we pulled was really interesting: Advanced Gunnery. The Imperials had slightly fewer points and so were the first player. The objective ships were the Victory II and the Nebulon B Escort Frigate. We're still playing on a 3'x3'.

Thanks for sharing your experiences with all of us.

At 180 points, I feel like Advanced Gunnery is a little on the unbalanced side. It gets even more extreme if the Second Player is Imperial (Two shots out of my front hull zone at the same ship? And the enemy double-shot can't target my single ship twice? Yes please!).

Definitely! I think a lot of the objectives are a little wonky at 180. Just got my 2nd core though, so 300 point games- here I come!

Awesome report! I'm sure having to navigate obstacles made things much more interesting, not to mention the objective cards. One note, having the lower fleet point total allows that player to decide who is first player, they aren't first player by default.

Yeah we realized that bit later when re-reading the rules... that would've been big for the Imperials!

Love that you brought Grand Moff Tarking!
