Tactical advice needed for a club tournament where the lists and matchups are known in advance

By Nehekharan, in X-Wing

I will be participating in a club tournament soon that is a bit unusual.

We know the lists and matchups prior to the tournament starting so we can think about some tactics.

I will be flying IG-88-B and IG-88-D: http://xwing-builder.co.uk/view/212955/xhammer-x-wing-championship-2015

I would love some general advice on how to fly my squad because I've only flown IG's once before.

These are the squads I will be facing:

Match 1 http://xwing-builder.co.uk/view/223184/match-1

Match 2 http://xwing-builder.co.uk/view/223185/match-2

Match 3 http://xwing-builder.co.uk/view/223186/match-3

Match 4 http://xwing-builder.co.uk/view/223188/match-4

It would be awesome if you guys would take a quick look at these squads and tell me what my target priority should be, what to look out for & general tips.

You guys are great ! :)

Love the idea for that tourney. I would love to dig into those lists and see what I think, but none of the links work for me.

Hmm, they were working earlier, perhaps the squad builder website is down.

Please try again later, I would love that have your opinions :)

Looks like the squad builder site is having issues. Nothing accessible currently.

It seems the squadbuilder website is up and running again !

Hopefully my topic isn't burried by now ...

Match one vs. Han.

Han is your only real threat. come in fast and focus him down.(easier said than done). But you should be able to take him out. If you have one ship left after Han is gone the other two will be cake. Stay at range in the end game. You would rather have D take the brunt of the early damage if you can.

Match two Fel and Whisper

Not sure witch phantom rules you will be using...but my advice would be the same. Keep some distance between your 2 ships. Spread out your fire arcs or those 2 will be out of you arcs the whole game. You have auto thrusters....he does not...so range 3 might be your friend.

Match three Wedge/Chewie

Go in hard to take out Wedge. When he is gone, split up and attack Chewie from multiple angles. If he is pointed at one ship, slow down and keep at range. Go in with the other one out of arc.

Match four Scarlet

Delay the early confrontation. Start on one edge and run to the other avoiding a fight. Make him run that swarm through some asteroids and make some turns, bump, and get some of them out of howlrunner range. Then go in and pick them off the best you can. Use hit and run tactics. Do not let Scarlet get a shot on you. A stress will be pretty bad if you get one in the first pass. I think this will be your toughest match-up.

Once again I love the format. It is fun to think ahead.

Thanks negative9 ! That is some great advice. :)
