Raphael

Looking for some verification on how Raphael's ability works with negative numbers.

The ability is "E Commit 1 foundation: Your attack gets +X speed. X equals your attack's damage minus it's speed."

Basically what I want to know is when speed goes to negative values does his ability continue to grant a bonus. If speed is at -2, and damage is at 6. do I still get (6-(-2)) = +8 speed.

i would think it would go by the way the math works so it would be plus 8

In the most basic sense of it, it is basically "your speed is now the same as your damage" so yes, you would get the plus 8.

As long as that is the card text and it said "minus" and not "difference".

Mathematically they mean the same thing, but in a language sense they don't. Difference implies absoluteness.

well the best that can happen is if you commit a foundation, your attack will go from YzoneX to XzoneX, since if the attack is -2M5 (5 - -2 = 7) so -2 +7 = 5 basically treat him as though as long as your attacks speed is less than it's damage, the attack's speed become's it's damage.

N.J.

That's similar to how narcissistic works no?

Narcissistic (E Commit, commit 1 foundation : this attack gets -X damage (minimum 1). X equals this attack's damage minus its speed (minimum 0).

Yes except Narcissistic's two minimums will prevent it from granting a bonus instead of a penalty, just like the errata on Makoto.

Ignore this block of text.
