My fellow Edge of the Empire player is creating a new character for EotE, not Age of Rebellion, but wants to be part of the Rebellion. We've figured out a way to integrate him, but should he use an AoR or EotE career to start his character off? Our group plans on buying Age of Rebellion & Force and Destiny eventually, but for now we're playing Edge of the Empire. I know after we start a campaign with those books he can buy into those other careers/specializations, but how about beforehand? (We plan on using his character to set up the integration to AoR. (And alternatively, we have a plan for integrating FaD.))
Any help would be awesome!
Help with Rebellion and Dutybound obligation?
Um. I am not entirely sure what you are asking.
Are you asking our permission to run your game the way you want to?
You said you had a way to integrate his character, but you also said you didn't own AoR. So how would you let him select a career or specialization from AoR?
If you just want advice I would suggest letting him select whichever career works best for his character concept and apply obligation as normal for the group. Just because a character is from one game line does not mean they have to have the associated Obligation/Duty/etc at creation. Integration is as simple as saying, hey I want to join the rebellion. Or hey, I think it would be cool to focus on beam sword waving religious folk. It is your game, play it however feels best to you and your friends.
You can use any Spec from any book in any campaign unless the GM says otherwise.
Come up with a character concept and pick the spec that matches, and you'll be good to go.
For reference:
Han can be statted and a Smuggler:Pilot or Scoundrel (EotE)
Leia as an Ambassador (AoR)
Luke as a Starfighter Ace (FaD)
And you can now play the original trilogy.... enjoy.
@ Cap, it will be hard for him to use Duty if you guys don't know the rules for it. Duty is different from Obligation in how it works for benefits at char gen, how it generates during rollplay, like what happens when you hit 100 with it, and so on. I suggest that he plays from the Edge book for now, keeping track of his XP earned and when you get those books retcon his character back and use duty, or make him like Han and just add duty like a normal thing as if he decides that the Alliance is right and he joins.
