What Decks are you known for?

By Theo7, in UFS General Discussion

Just a fun thread to see who has built what obver the years!
Iv alsways been one of those people who go to tournaments with the hope to win mainly to get my name in the forums and to get people talking about me and my decks! Hasnt happend yet though! hehe lengua.gif someday soon maybe though!

This thread is made so that I and all of you can tell everyone what are the decks people in your area (or indeed further afeild) think of what they think of you, or maybe even decks you like to remember when making new ones!

Me myself started my walk into seriouse UFS play with a good Maxi deck, im known for it as i made a character, that was overlooked and not overly liked at the time, into something playable! i mean it wasnt fantastic but it was also the first competative deck i had built on my own.

Next would be My Promo Lizardman which i made with some heavy help with Crazy Elf, lizardman became my first deck that won more than 2 or 3 games every now and then! Yay 2 reversals!

Then would be my masterpiece! :Sophitia: from being played off of life by Crazy Elf and doing ok with it, he disasembled it and i picked it up, made it order and ran with it. I still believe today that she was the best deck i have ever made and one of my favourites, early on in my UFS time i took it to UK nats! and then later Uk Team nats (coming second too! yay!) i loved this deck and want it back so badly!

now i belive Fio was my next big contender and was going to take her to a nearby regional untill the new bans were enforced and made fio not so good... fio was just fun for me, a bit more control than i would have liked but as long as she worked i didnt mind!

Nowerdays im more feared in the meta for my Feline Felicia off water with Yi shans attacks and warrior poet. Felicia is realy an idea that came to Viewtiful_Joe who quite kindly passed it onto me! i made the deck my own a bit and play tested liked what i saw and continued! now with the bans and erratas she is even better and now i believe my sencond best deck to date!

There you go, more decks than i thought i had to mention, but i switch characters every 2 sets or so lol.

So? what decks are memorable not only to you but those who played them?

Well I know im well known for my Tira decks as ive been making them since the game began. A couple of memorable decks that I made are my water sakura deck that was made before feline spike, and a chae deck that I enjoyed playing. Some that I fought against would be a promo alba deck that was really well made and a promo dan deck that a friend made.

I think I'm probably known in my area for being the one who plays really strong competitive decks for all the locals and placing well in most tournaments, then going to something big and lending my mates the cards they need, ending up playing some jank we built the morning before and Scrubbing it. But then pulling off ridiculous trades while we wait for Dan/JJ to finish Top 8's.

I guess the deck I'm known for would be my Santa deck. He only lost like 10 games in his career inside tournaments. It was a good deck ^.^

Promo & UR X, my main decks for a LONG time.
Cassy, any version; i started with a Life version of **Cassy** prior to her banning, then moved to the promo now to the new promo.
Promo Athena off of Fire; my record with that deck was somewhere around 31-3-1 amazing deck, too bad it's no longer legal...

yeah i mainly play female characters... i did play Donovan3 a LONG time ago, when the Injury Assets were first released off of Order and well... it was BROKEN...

N.J.

i play a lot of different decks but i think the 1 i am most famous for was a fire starter akuma that otk'd with maximum jackknife. not because it was so amazing but because it was so annoying, slow, and predictable yet still managed to do pretty well. currently i am playing a promo bishamon death/earth mill that has only lost 2 games, one of them to banned chun li.

Locally, I have a few stand-bys that are fairly predicatable. When the game first started every deck I played had Close Throw in it, lol. Most of the time, if I'm playing legacy you can count on Mystic being in my deck. I also have a penchant for abusing Enigmatic Maneuvers

But, the number one deck I'm known for is my Nightmare Geese deck. It has 3 copies of an action card and everything else is an attack card. You all remember attacking in UFS, right? :) The deck used to work fairly consistently until every card printed started having stellar blocks on them.

Zangief, Adon, and Yun-seong i'd say.

Well I am for sure known for Promo Morrigan right before block 2 and then in block 2 promo dan AKA Sars.

Trying to find something for block 3 but nothing has clicked as well as those 2 decks.

6HS Sagat made people cry!

Purple/Hammerhead Astaroth

Block 3 Morrigan (when the rotation to block 2 hadn't even happened yet)

Yoshitora (Wait, what? You add cards to my card pool on every attack?)

Promo Rikuo!

Lessee. Starting from waaaaay back of the game's inception.

Tycho (Shaneth was the Tycho Fiend, I was the Tycho King. We each had at least 2 different builds for each of his symbol)

Death 6 check toolbox. Undefeated in 28 best 2 of 3 games.

WATER UKYO (Top 8 Nationals)

A circle of associates know me for my various Victor builds.

Jeremy Ray name dropped me in connection with my Hilde deck somewhere on these forums.

But the deck I'm most proud of is my Battlebox Sophitia deck. People eventually refused to play me when I brought that monster out.

Oh, and I coined the name "Blazing Elena" but Chubbs is more known for the deck than I am.

the people in my area know me for my block 2 elena deck which i played from before block 2 started to the time of set10's release.

Sakura Starter Deck.

Sophie** players represent, we should have an all-Sophie mini-tournament somewhere, it'll be so full of AIDS. Kunai, Whereabouts, Rat Chaser, Dark Heart, Deadly Rave, ahhh the good times...

I played Arrogance Alba** for about a month straight after it came out, fun with Legacy. No one built the Psycho Power Ukyo deck, so it was pretty annoying :)

After I played around with set 12 for a little while, and in response to our local banlist (which was basically Ira Spinta + a bunch of stuff that actually got banned), I decided to test out the damage capacity of the new Death symbol stuff, culminating in a Death Donovan deck that I've been dicking around with for a few weeks now. Lost pretty bad last week, tho, couldn't find any Dhalsim's Crouching Roundhouse and things just did not go well =P.

The first AOP i went to everyone was suprised at how good my Ibuki deck was....this was before the higher caliber jank i guess nobody realized that she was super sweet with float like a butterfly.....i honestly keep a dice with me just to count how many times i used it a turn which was usually like 6-8 lol i still didnt top 8 though because of a super lame DQ i got in the second or 3rd round because i left one card RFGd during our second game...we even finished out the games and i won both of them

But my true accomplishments are the Drawsome deck( dhalsim mill) that me and my friend joey(Ariac on the forums) invented and my nakoruru deck that could first turn kill with To the Bone and Pirate Raid Ambe Yataro.....that was my favorite deck of all time

Everyone at my local hated playing my **Seong Mi-Na** mill >.>

Firstly,

Great topic idea for discussion.

My first 'real' deck was probably my Iori back in the days of Fireball, running of of Water (accept for 4 copies of Absurd Strength). It was such a fun deck as it ran 6 attakcs (+ 4 clones) and everything else in the deck was 5 or 6 check that either recurred my cards or reduced damage. Came to fame by first turn killing opponent on average 1 in 4 games.

Though Iori was fun; my best deck to date was probably my 2007 Void Chester. After the team nats before (won all my matches with Promo Ukyo until my last one against JJ's Tycho), I kept commenting about how Void was sooo overpowered and can build nigh indestructible decks. People disagreed, so I built void control with chester... Then realised I could build him with no attacks and mill instead of kill. Sadly I made some critical errors in play during the nats and was diversitied out of top 8 by a single point. I doubt i'll ever build a deck as good, but i'll keep trying.

Lately I built new Sophitia based on pure CC hacking goodness with my favourite 'Secret Projects'. Took me to 3rd place at UK PoTM, but was just not very exciting to play with.

I'm desperately trying to find a way to build a non-attack deck (that isn't US Air Base as I doubt the Dhalsim 'All your bases' deck can be topped for that combo) and relive my memories of mill Chester, but not too much luck... I am please with my current deck, but even running just 6 attacks isnt the same :'(

I think a few people may remember my astroth back in the day of only being the penny arcade set and the 2 sets of street fighter and soulcalibur. If any one remembers a card called physically fit if not it was basicly you discard and attack card and your attack gets the damage of the discarded attack on to this attack, well demented moon 14 damage wasnt likely to hit at 2 speed, so i put it on a throw hehe was a fun deck.

The a few people may remeber my promo Lien which did multiple altarfs on you well the big reversal attack of hers which was a strong deck and was fun.

then a i waited for my ultimate beast of a deck which everyone remebers there is no doubt about my RARE yunseong deck (Love that ability) which in the day was one of the strongest in are play group for a while which i am happy about, infiltrating bird of prey for the win. i ran if no matter what people said about there being to much to combat him until he finally got cycled and i also have a ritual burned yun seong character card lol. well i took him appart a bit before cycle as are playgroup just played block 3 early around new years time

the only thing is for a few mouths after yunseong i dont know if i had any deck that great (Colchester people if you can think of any tell me) until i mademy guy deck. GUY RITE DECK fast as a bat out of hell (excuse the pun) but he could get the momentum for the multiple and he could make sure each one hit with speed pump, and a years diffrence to repleish my hand and to have my opponent have a full hand for more speed pump.

but yea i have had a few remembral decks but i have been playing for near 3 years now. but yea if any of my lot know any decks i made between yunseong and guy i would like to know if not i blame the monkey.

OP gets a cookie! I love this thread, its so positive and gets people inspired to go " Really?! Character X!? Gonna give that a try!"

Funnest deck I ever built was promo Ryu (the Dark Path one). Remember one match against M. Bison, he made me randomly play one card from me hand instead of the one I wanted, he randomly picked the Seichu Nidan Tsuki from me hand, I passed the check and BAM!!! Multiple 2 on first turn baby!! * Sigh* that deck was inconsistent as hell, but the fun factor? Like a million or summat!

Most sucessful deck? Probably Tri-Symbol Kyoshiro, had all the answers, drew like a mofo and then hit with massive Tiger Furies and Fweems. Downside? Really slow to build, so aggro took it to pieces sharpish, and it was boring as eating paper. The opponent would yawn as I played YET another turn of foundations, putting up the grey wall.

Currently, my baby is Iori3. Check that symbol spread if you don't believe me! Abilities are OKish, and I know he will never be top tier, but I have a strange affinity for the underdog (plus he sides into Zi Mei easy-peasy gui%C3%B1o.gif ). Took him to PotM UK, took the first two rounds 2-0, then hit some snags (a Donovan Spiral lock, yawn!, and a Chun-Li, need I say more, oh yeah and Zhai Daiyo silliness!). However, bar the Donovan deck, the others were closer than expected.

You know what, this thread actually makes me want to play right now!

When I 1st started I went with good old Dhalsim, after a few weeks I managed to get my hands on the booster and from there the fun really began, with a win tally building with him I began to mod and mod until I had a heavy control Dhalsim Void Control..

When more and more sets were released one of my faviroute characters in the game was also released which made me very happy.. This was of course M.Bison, his control level was rather impressive so I went from Void Control to Order/Evil Control using Knee Press Knighmare with Dirty Pool..

Shortly after I made a few decks but they never really made an impact like Dhalsim or M.Bison did, then SHE arrived..

The character that I was known as for a long time. Ibuki, with her amazing ability to play one of the best finishers in the game and her level of control. She landed me a top 25 at the UK Nationals and once she was banned I moved onto the new released Ibuki which was part of the team that finished 2nd in the 2008 UK Team Nationals..

Shortly after I went through a few decks that would work well but I never really felt that they would prove as well as my previous decks..

Atm I have a Hugo deck in the works and a Nagase deck near enough finished but not yet tested..

Hopefully they will become as heavily played as Dhalsim, M.Bison and Ibuki...

Nobody.

I change decks like I change shirts.

I'm a HUGE Fei Long fan, so the very first deck i ever built was Promo Fei...he was terrible!!! gran_risa.gif

The first real deck was mostly put together by the local Scout, and it was *Yun* off Earth. Initially, it was a hybrid deck that ran classic jank such as Ring Vet, Unknown Force, The Curse Broken and it killed with either Knee Toss or Shoulder Rush! Eventually, i ran R.Mika's now-legacy attacks to forcibly Stun out my opponent before playing the kill card with Yun's awesome spd-pump ability.

First tournament i went to was the AoP in Hayward, CA in November of 2007. It was poorly promoted and officiated (the TO asked our Scout to do the officiating), and there were only 18 players who showed...10 of those players were from my playgroup! Anyway, with help from OMGItsMattKohls i built a Fireball Kohls deck and placed in the Top 8. Anyone remember the Gamers Round Table software and how outrageously horrible it was? I do! I finished overall Swiss Champ, and my buddy who was running this horribly busted Ruler of Southtown Guile deck (where he made it so his opponents could only play 1 Form/turn) finished 2nd. Yea, Round Table software thought it'd be cute for the both of us to play each other the 1st round of T8. I came close, but Guile had me locked out early each game and eventually went on to win the whole shebang!

Fireball Kohls is perhaps one of my very favorite decks ever. Obviously, however, Mr. Kohls is much better well known for creating that monster than i.

The 2nd tournament i played at was the Santa Clara, CA AoP March 2008. At this point, i was still a very inexperienced deck builder so my friend, who'd created Ruler of Southtown Guile, built me a deck unlike anything i'd ever played up to that point: Deadly Ground Guy off Chaos that only played Powerful attacks (125 Rapids, Tsunami Sabre were it's main kills) and made them unblockable via Soul Power and Unortho Fight Stylez. It was a very Control-centric deck, and i finished in the Top 4, out of a field of 32! I lost to a deck that would become a very powerful archtype: Promo Athena, built and piloted by my buddy VaporGecko. This was the very first time Promo Athena won anything and really put the whole Experienced Combatant + MegaloFest combo to the forefront. Combined witht the fact that he played Gochichi upfront to snipe your staging area and make you check off his deck instead of yours...yea, it was a losing experience that i will never forget!

So, props to CrimsonCrane for building *Guy*, and to me for playing *Guy* to a top 4 finish, but props to VaporGecko for being the first to create something that was meta-changing!

My most recent build landed me a Top 8 finish at the Silicone Cup: Battle For the Bay Regional event this past April: Tri-Symbol 3.Terry that killed with Ryu's Shin Shoryu and gained life like a fiend off of Sakura's Shinku Hado.

Good Times, fo sho!

Locally Kilik when I was new. Then Dan in Block 1, Alex in Block 2, Seong-Mina in block 3. Also Thawk despite the fact that I've never played a thawk deck in my life.

I had a lot of decks in between, but those are the ones that people recognize me for I guess.

Tanner is fun too, Alba is impossible to remove his name from, and now in Block 3 Gill.

Olexa is tthe easiest person to associate in the game really with Vega(two different versions of vega too) in Block 1-2, Himself in Block 2-3

Matt Mcdannel and friggin Adon, god why

Mattkohls and Tira, and Himself are pretty inseperable.

Paul Bittner and Alex and Twelve a little.

Jon herr and his constant returns to Yoshitora and himself now.

Hata and Cody(Jealous of this one, I love cody)

Scott Gaines and Ben Shoepee'er both Ukyo.

I always associate Hugo with Havoc, I dont even know who he is, but he talked about hugo constantly and always had builds for him.

Omar and Voldo(Easymode pick)

JJ Watkins and Tycho

Kin and J Taliban

Dutpotd and Alex is probably the most recent association i've made.

I only associate people when they run with a guy multiple times when it isnt clearly the best deck in the meta.(dominant decks like Dhalsim/Ibuki/Chun-li and Hugo for a hot minute there I kind of ignore)

Twelve. I doubt that any of my decks since UR Twelve (with his actual support, BTW) have been more successful.

Other than Twelve, I was the first to show how Hilde can go boom. And back in the old days a Water Tycho that was... just sexy. Everyone's like "yeah, Void/Order Tycho is the best" and there I was, blocking everything with my ability alone...

1) Astaroth -Fave character who started it all.

2) Nightterror - the deck the took down the local scout.

3) Hugo - active reign of terror.

Block 2 R. Mika

First deck I ever built to actually play UFS, and then I turned it into something competitive actually. Ran Throws, damage reduction, and Heavenly Dynamite to mill or kill.
