I played against an Astrid deck at regionals and I really liked the concept, so I've decided to try her out. I've got the main build down, but it's figuring out what I really need and how much of each card.

A lot of the foundations don't have a block, so I'll either have to find some way to get around that or rush like there's no tomorrow. This is all a rotated deck, so if you have any suggestions please keep that in mind.

Reaver's Axe x3 (Weapon +2H) -speed and dmg pump ftw

Knight Breaker x4 (Weapon, +0H) -if I can get the Combo out (Mark of the Beast/Raven's Claw + Odin's Wrath) these are ridiculous

Mark of the Beast x4 (Weapon, +2M) -anti-multiple and just a good attack

Raven's Claw x4 (Weapon, +3M) -can pump itself, cheap, really good imo

Foundations: 28

Communing with the Ancients x4 -MVP foundation

Bloodied but Unbowed x4 -who doesn't like drawing Weapons

Determined x3 -I really don't think I need these, but the reason I keep em in is they can kill Weapons for her ability

Nursing a Grudge x3 -I can get a Weapon from my discard yay

Queens Champion x4 -more drawing

Resourceful x4 (Weapon, +3M) -basically just another weapon, but if I do get to use the ability then cool

Relentless x2 (Weapon) -need 2 more...more drawing and another weapon

Envoy of the Queen x4 (Weapon, +3L) -another weapon and gives me some weapons in my discard homefully

Don't take it too personally; the forum is a bit slow today.

12 assets is a lot, mate; too much, if you ask me. Hilde's one is unnecessary IMHO. I like Communing with the Ancients, but Memories that Stain its Armor is a rather... control-ish foundation for what seems to be a rush deck. Also, the main good thing about Astrid is that you don't need big and expensive attacks like Odin's Wrath and Knight Breaker, respectively; she can make anything beastly. I'd look to buff small attacks to the moon with Astrid's E, and use Kung-Fu Training to keep her going, which should help your deck speed overall.

Alright well here's my two cents.

I just recently slapped together an astrid that works a little like this, but with a hell of alot less assets. Your build is definitely asset heavy, which she may benefit from because there all weapons But you should still probably trim it down. Reaver's axe and valkyrja's shield are fantastic assets period so they should definitely stay in; probably 4 of both if you can swing it. Ymirfang requires you to blow up a foundation; which isn't too good when you can gain that same damage boost from the blowfish blade which also checks better. And it's ability to grab back a block is a great side effect too. You should main soul wave if you want asset control. I think it's worth it. And in regards to both of hilde's assets: while there both good, the terrain may not synergize well with astrid. Your better off grabbing a foundation that boosts speed. This way you've got more foundations for checks. Especially if you want to run big attacks.

Your attacks are wierd too. Astrid has some fantastic attacks that work with her; namely pommel smash and astrid's wolf strike. You should probably drop knight breaker and raven's claw for those two. Knight breaker is gonna be too situational to warrant it sitting in your hand until you draw the right combo set up. And raven's claw just isn't good. Astrid's reversal capabilities are devastating if done right and astrid's wolf strike makes the most of it to say the least.

Your foundation's are okay buy could use some condensing and streamlining. Memories of a nightmare isn't going to work well with her playstyle, instead you should try to grab no memories; the e control is a bit more versatile and serves her well. Envoy of the queen is just not good. On paper it seems okay with her, but in practice it just sits in your staging area. Bloodied but unbowed and relentless are just absolutes in her decks. So is communing with the ancients for that matter. Relentless, queens champion and resourceful aren't too good to be honest. There either gambles or not worth the cost. You should see about replacing these with more of your other foundations and some good agro ones. Enraged golem is freaking fantastic for aggro now, and adoration still works well as a speed boost; plus with admiration can work as a nice life gain. Also paying respect for your ancestors is probably her best foundation; so I'll consider you not having them in there as meaning you just don't have any.

So yeah, my two cents pretty much comes to; your trying to do too much and there are better foundations for what your trying to do. Hope that helps.

As far as your allack lineup goes... try 3/3 Weapons. There are alot of them that fit her symbols. Pommel Smash is godly when played as a reversal doing 20+. Also look into Mysterious Stance and Path of the Master.

-i like the weapon assets because...well mostly because theyre weapons...idk i may mix and match on them

-im a huge fan though of the weapon foundations...envoy, even if i play it, can upgrade my discard with weapons, and if i draw them too late ill just discard em no biggie

-relentless is just stupid good imo

-resourceful..meh yea it's not the greatest thing ever, but i still like them, i may take them out though

like i said ill update more when i get a chance and i definitely appreciate the help
