E-A-Z-Z Does it have potential?

By Kalandros, in X-Wing Squad Lists

42 - Corran Horn (Stress Bot, Flechette Torp, FCS, VI)
25 - Arvel Crynyd (Test Pilot, Refit, AThrusters, Intimidation)
21 - Lieutenant Blount (Ion Pulse Missile, Deadeye)
12 - Bandit Sq. Pilot

Corran to stress-lock the biggest threat (double IG - double or triple stress one, burn it down, then if still possible do the same to the other one!)

Arvel + Blount can combine together: Blount auto-Ionizes any small or large ship (hello again double IG list) followed by Arvel blocking or ramming (depending on initiative and PS) to then fire away and give the Intimidation bonus to anyone else shooting the ship he collided with

Bandit as filler and to have a 4th ship.

Intimidation outside of Oicunn who likes to ram stuff doesn't come up often but I think it combines well with Arvel if you can maneuver the ram properly (with the help of ionizing a target) so that you get +1 Attack die for being at range one and make the target lose a defense die against any attacks while touching. Its pretty sweet but requires good piloting to make happen. Imagine ramming that C3P0 Han, no defense, can't use C3P0, straight damage!

Deadeye could be dropped to have an initiative bid I guess but its pretty much the only time I'd ever consider this EPT - allowing him to use the missile on any ship in range without needing to target lock one. Of course I could drop that EPT and just use target lock on the turn I wanna use the missiles. I dunno. O:

Of course the list lacks a lot of heavy hitters, I'm aware of that, but I'll give it a go anyway.

Just had an idea to replace Deadeye with Adrenaline Rush: K-Turn becomes White, Target Lock, launch missiles~

Corran is too expensive and action dependent to make a good R3-A2 platform. Getting him loaded down with stress doesn't seem like a great idea.

I like your ideas but I'm not keen on your Corran build, generally Corran is for murder, not control. You'll get one turn of triple stress, and that might take one ship out of the fight for a while, but it will also take Corran out of the fight for at least two turns. I suppose if you're really having trouble with two ship builds this might work.

Deadeye is semi-mandatory on Blount, keep it unless you really need that one point.

I've heard of "Sad Corran" or "Poor Corran", I believe on Nova Squadron podcast. I think somebody (maybe?) won or at least placed in a store championship with it. But I think the sad/poor name comes because people typically keep it cheap, down to just R3-A2 and maybe one other upgrade. So don't let people get you discouraged by preaching what is "typical".

Several months ago people would have told you that putting C3PO and R2D2 on Han was a mistake and you need more firepower. It was the conventional wisdom at the time...until Paul Heaver won Worlds with it that is.

The part I don't like in this list is Arvel. We've now put two abilities on him contingent upon him touching a single ship. And when he doesn't, he's no better (and possibly worse) than a 15 pt prototype pilot. And he'll likely be in the thick of things to make his abilities work, making Autothrusters potentially of limited use. Sure, you might be in position to do something when Blount's missile goes off, but that is only one round, and quite a bit needs to line up for it all to happen. As always for me, I like the look of a B-Wing instead.

Being able to double or triple stress is pretty awesome but you are spending a lot for the ability to do so with Corran. You are also making the only ship that hits hard your most annoying and expensive ship on the board. If you lose Corran early there is very little that you'll be able to do to come back.
