ig-88 everywhere!

By Ayleron, in X-Wing

well, those are not all exactly right

With Wedge you give him another red colored thing (dice)

Whisper hates PS 10 or stacked stress, but erratas take her far more down to our level

Academy Ties don't actually super care about stress because there are tons of them. Stress helps take a few out of the joust and guarantee you won't get damage from them in the proper context, but odds are they're going to block your ass instead.

Fat Han isn't really crippled by stress, it's just a great way to slow his ass down and to push one more damage through per turn.

B-wings don't like stress in a joust, but they ******* absolutely loathe ion

as for Aggressors, well you already know:

1.) obstructions

2.) blockers

3.) stress (including stress given via obstruction)

action denial is tertiary to ensuring they start to hate their base size

Now lets talk about good stress builds to defeat dual IGs with Rebels and Imperials

At first before Wave 6 I said those that want to play scum should have a Y-wing, a HWK-290 a Slave-1 and the Most Wanted pack and that should give you some good squadrons. -_-

I was wrong

I now say if you want to play S&V get 2 Aggressors and a Star Viper and that's all you'll need. ;)

autoblaster kavil with engine and unhinged astro is pretty tasty against these guys

Because stress is a VERY powerful mechanic, youbjust have to understand why.

For soontir, its because he turns into a sh*tty tie fighter if youvstress stack.

For aggressors, its because they can't turn their fat asses around to get arcs on you

Maybe my point was a little to sutle.......

How do I beat Wedge?

Give him Stress!

How do I beat Whisper?

Give her Stress!

How do I beat academy ties?

Give them Stress!

How do I beat a Fat Han

Give him Stress!

How do I beat B-Wings?

Give them Stress!

How do I beat........

Give him Stress!

How do I beat........

Give him Stress!

That about sums it up, now that we know stress is good what eles do you have as a solution?

Well I will say this, now that obstacles are a part of squad building you could throw in some debris clouds. I can see an Ion build with 3 debris clouds as part of the squadron list.

Kavil with blaster turret and astromech made short work of an aggressor for me, I think he's a great pilot.

I take them out with ION .... 3 cheap y wings with ion turret and 2 z's. You can get then in scum or rebel for about 93 points from memory, leaving you 7 points to add astromechs and stuff. let the z's run an interferance/blocking game and so you can get your y's into postion to keem the ion on. It will frustrate the hell out of them as you can no controll where their firing arch is, if you can add ress to them then that don't get an action either. So they end up just flying into stuff and then off the board

Gold squadron with r3-a2 ion cannon and title. When they get more stress than their build plans for they just kind of fall apart. Last SC I went to I got up to 6 stress on one. :)

Scum Warthogs with R4 work well as does a combo of B-Wing with Flechette/Tactician plus ion Cannon B or Y-Wings on rebel side. Every big pricey ship absolutely hates that, but Aggressors especially, since they just can't afford to lose sight on you as well

Against IG's, I've had a lot of luck with things that can focus reroll: Blues with FCS for example. I'm 4-1. The list I lost too was a CD version while I was experimenting with farlander and Dutch.

If you are up against only two targets, FCS is great!

(snip)

All the dual Aggressor lists I face are sub-optimal. If you have enough space for hotshot blasters on these things you're flying a sub-par list, drop it and spend those extra points on an HLC. With a two ship build you can't afford to lose firepower by running ions. Go HLC.

Considering that I won 3 tournaments without HLC and hotshot blasters then I beg to differ ;)

My greatest loss while piloting an Aggressor was due to a combination of events:

- A single stress

- An asteroid at range 2 and 2 of a corner

- The fight angling with me heading towards that corner

I could not K-turn or S-loop because of the stress, so I had to take the long way around the asteroid. That was 2 to 3 rounds of being pummelled by a tie mini swarm with no return fire. So yeah, proper control and asteroid placement makes a huge difference against aggressors.

Really the main draw is the 3 agility on a big ship. People see that and say, "That's something I have to play" Plus the Autogunner and title are amazing. The ship does have weaknesses you just have to exploit them.

For opening moves, I like to rush one side and refuse flank if they deploy split in the corners to cut one of them off from the other in the first exchange.

If they deploy together, I'll send my most maneuverable ship up and around to try to get behind them and slow-roll my slower ships as slow as I can, creating a pincer. If the Aggressors go after my slow ships and joust, they'll have my more maneuverable ship on their tail and be taking damage from my slow guys. If they try to turn to face my faster ship, I'll try to get him out of there and move my slower ships up to attack the flank (some prediction helps with the timing here).

I should probably mention that I always run at least one ship in my list that can Barrel Roll and Boost in the same turn, so outmaneuvering these things has not been an issue for me.

Gold Squadron Pilot — Y-Wing 18

Ion Cannon Turret 5

R2 Astromech 1

BTL-A4 Y-Wing 0

Gold Squadron Pilot — Y-Wing 18

Ion Cannon Turret 5

R2 Astromech 1

BTL-A4 Y-Wing 0

Blue Squadron Pilot — B-Wing 22

Flechette Cannon 2

Tactician 2

B-Wing/E2 1

Gold Squadron Pilot — Y-Wing 18

Ion Cannon Turret 5

R3-A2 2

BTL-A4 Y-Wing

This is more of a balance between ion and stress, but it maintains sustained damage too if need be. It can throw out 3 ion tokens and 4 stress on some turns. One of your ships will also be double stressed, but against 2-ship builds that's not a catastrophe.

You can drop BTL on the last Gold squadron and lose some firepower to gain some flexibility too.

Auto-Thrusters should really be "Small Ship only".

Bro-Bots especially with Advanced Sensors were very tough to kill. With most 2-Attack Ship it's nearly impossible to deal any damage.

John Connor would know what to do.
