When: 7 - midnight

Points: 100

On 4/3 a group will be playing armada in case you are interested.

Spring game kit came in thinking about running a $5 escalation tournament on 4/24. If you can make it or are interested let me know.

We are also contemplating changing game night to every Friday. So vote if you want to start playing every Friday or if you like taking the first Friday of the month off.

I vote we play every Friday.

Although I am all for possibly making the first Friday of the month a co-star wars FFG casual night and have Armada and Xwing on the first Friday for the foreseeable future.

But I'll bring my Xwing stuff with me this Friday and if anyone shows up that has no interest in Armada, I'll play Xwing with them. Though I am not opposed to trying out Armada... I'm still Xwing focused.

I think we should play every Friday. Maybe make the first Friday of each month "Armada Night". People are free to play either game on any Friday. But this way, those of us interested in playing both X-wing and Armada will know which stuff to bring.

I'm willing to give the escalation tournament a try.

I'm fine with that. Probably won't make many 1st Fridays though. Would like to to try and get some more epic going though. Maybe last Friday of the month can be epic night.

I'm all for trying epic since many of us have the ships that have been released so far and I'm sure a few will by the next one coming out soon.

As for the escalation tourney on Friday (4/24)... will we start that at 7 PM sharp?

We could also start the initial rounds with less time and increase the time for each round. A 60 point first round does not need 60 minutes dedicated to it. And a 150 point final round may need slightly longer than 60 minutes. BUT knowing that in advance (time limits) could be important information for making your lists.

The official rules state that an escalation tournament has 4 rounds:

60 points (50 minutes)

90 points (70 minutes)

120 points (90 minutes)

150 points (120 minutes)

It also says the TO can increase or decrease the round length by up to 10 minutes.

If Round 1 starts promptly at 7 PM... that would put the start of Rd 2 at 8 PM, Rd 3 at 9:20, and Rd 4 would be starting at 11 PM. We'd have to scale that down or start a little earlier if we want to try to finish around midnight.

Yep. Still working it out. Start time is 7.

Noooo, I've wanted to go to one of these game nights so bad, but friday is a work night. Oh well, fly casual!

After playing armada last week I really feel like playing epic this Friday. I will have a 300 points imperial list ready for the first taker of the night on Friday.

Hmm... 8 X-wings and 6 B-wings is 300 points...

I do want to play epic

However having some car issues, so not sure if I will make it all.

Need a lift?

Maybe. That could help. I guess it depends on the progress I've made on my vehicle.

Because there is a concern we won't have enough time for 4 Round of escalation unless I severely limit the time for each round. Would it be better if we do 3 rounds at full time instead

So, you mean 60, 90, and 120 point rounds?

3 Rounds at:

60 points 50 min

90 points 70 min

120 points 90 min

or 4 rounds at:

60 points 40 min

90 points 60 min

120 points 80 min

150 points 90 min

I like the four rounds even if they are shortened. I think we just have to make sure that we are starting promptly at 7 PM and that means that we need to get people there to register by 6:40 at the latest so that the TO can verify lists.

BTW... I will NOT be there this Friday (I know... two Friday's in a row).

Last Friday I was in Vegas for "work." This Friday I am volunteering for my wife's non-profit. She is the PRIMARY non-profit organization of the Tacoma Rainiers on their opening night of the season.

slacker. ( I also won't be able to make it this Friday, I will stop buy after work but have to leave asap)

Good point everyone will need to bring a squad list broken out with all 4 rounds.

I actually think I'll try to show up and say hello late in the night (this Friday the 17th), but might not be until 11pm.

On a side note... I played down in the Vancouver, WA tournament last Saturday for the "Campaign Against Cancer" fund raiser. I was running a new list I've practiced only on VASSAL prior so it was my first time trying it in live play and I placed 6th out of 30. I lost my first two matches (the first was against the guy who went 6-0 and took the championship on the day) but then managed to win out the rest of the day (it was a tourney of just 6 rounds of swiss, no playoff bracket).

The new list is a Chewie and Leebo build. Pretty strong. I'm now 8 wins, 3 losses with it between the tourney and VASSAL. Had a lot fun, won another Z95 headhunter + in the raffle I walked away with another Imperial Aces and a set of 10 acrylic shield tokens. Got a nifty flip coin too.

Well, poop!! I just found out that I have a HS double header on Friday the 24th so I can't make the escalation tourney now. Unfortunately I can not turn back the assignment as I am up as one of four referee candidates that will be narrowed to two who will represent Pierce County as referees for the Washington State Boys HS finals. I can't afford to miss an opportunity like this with my application for NCAA referee next season.

Just a friendly minder to check under the tables and a round where you were playing. A dial (owner found) and some ship markers (2 number 10s) where found after everybody left friday.
