Support for YT-2400

By Klutz, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I had a lot of fun last tourney with the following list (and won my first Store Championship with it!):

  • Wild Space Fringer + Mangler Cannon + Outrider + Recon Specialist
  • Airen Cracken + Cluster Missiles
  • 2 x Bandit + Homing Missiles

And I'm thinking of bringing something similar to Regionals in a little over a month.

I'm thinking of running one of the following YT-2400 builds:

  • 47 pts: Leebo + Determination + RecSpec + Mangler + Outrider
  • 49 pts: Dash Rendar + Veteran Instincts + RecSpec + Mangler + Outrider

Which leaves me with 53 and 51 points for support, respectively. I'm considering many different options:

  • 52 pts: 4 x Tala
  • 51 pts: 3 x Bandit and 1 x Prototype + Chardaan
  • 2 Bandits and...
    • 53 pts: Blue + HLC
    • 50 pts: Blue + Mangler
    • 52 pts: Dutch + ICT
    • 50 pts: Jake Farrel + PTL + VI
    • 51 pts: Roark + ICT + RecSpec

Anyone have thoughts about which YT-2400 + support combo is likely to perform better?

Are there any of the options I list for support that are duds and should be forgotten about?

How about 2 Blues with Accuracy Correctors - guaranteed 2 hits every attack even with blinded pilot crit as clarified in the new FAQ.

My son won our FLGS Store Championship weekend before last running 4x Blue Squadron+Accuracy Correctors.

He also likes running Chewbacca+Predator+Recon Spec+Jan Ors with 2 Blues with Accuracy Corrector and has haad good success with it too so putting Dash with these 2 tanks should yield good results as well.

I think the mangler cannon is going to be so prevalent now that Leebo is going to see more play, but I would think the options you have are good because anything you pair with a yt2400 needs to be tough on their own-- Maybe another option to consider is three green squadrons with the refit. At PS 3 you'll fire before other bandits and they are harder to kill. Maybe even three prototypes with refit and auto thrusters? PS 1 but tough bugs and good blockers.

Not sure I'm a fan of Accuracy Corrector on B-Wings.

I love it on the TIE Advanced, since it frees up your action for defense (evade or barrel roll) and doesn't impact your offense at ranges 2 and 3.

But, other than barrel rolling out of arcs, the B-Wing doesn't have much to boost its defense with actions. And getting out of arcs is useless against turrets, and a gamble at PS2 in other cases. Also, Accuracy Corrector is worse than 3 dice + focus or TL. I suppose Accuracy Corrector + focus or TL is better than either of those, but still...

I am considering Chewbacca, with a similar build to what you suggested, instead of Leebo.

But I really like the ability to stay at range 3 with Leebo and take shots with the Mangler without giving the defender an extra die.

And the barrel roll on WSF basically won me the Store Championship finals.

I'm a little hesitant to go with support that only has three 2-attack-dice guns. I feel like I'd be vulnerable to high-agility ships.

Which is why I like going with either 4 x 2-dice attacks or 2 x 2-dice attacks + 1 x 3/4-dice attack.

Looking at it today, in the 3 support ship options, I like the 2 x Bandits with either Blue+HLC, Dutch+ICT or Roark+RecSpec+ICT.

You forget the fact that it allows the B's to fly more aggressively and get into position without worrying about having a TL or focus. My son tabled the 3 opponents in the top 8 matchups he had in less time than a normal match and used AC 33 times through the day(7 matches). 2 out of 3 or 4 guaranteed hits is nothing to sneeze at. You even get 2 hits if you have a blinded pilot crit so it negates it. The results speak for themselves but to each his own. Let us know what you do finally run and how you do.

sorry ignore this post.
