We had a lot of fun with players flapping like birds and stuff but I believe the sign of the Aquila is hands folded crossways over the chest?
So how do you make the sign of the Aquila anyway?
I think that's the case, yeah. Thumbs interlocked to form the two heads of the Aquila and the fingers fanned out slightly to represent the wings.
I like to think of it like that. It seems easier and makes sense ![]()
Aquila/Sign of the Aquila - a sign of devotion to the Imperium that forms the Imperial Eagle, by crossing the hands with palms pressed to the chest and thumbs linked.
- from Codex Imperial Guard (2003), Imperial Guard Terms, page 62.
yeah its the hands crossed over chest, there is actualy a shorter version you use one hand only and put your thumb in the gap between your middle and ring finger, you dont need to hold it to your chest (its found in Eisenhorn i believe but i cant remember so dont quote me i just do know its a shorter version)
Only dangerous deviants woud be using a shorter version
no its used by guardsman so they can do something while praying

Killing the enemy and praising the Emperor at the same time! A Commissar's dream!
exactly lol they did it so they have a free hand to shoot that xeno thats coming at them
Is anyone able to post a picture or two to give us a better idea ?
Okay, we know that there is a "sign of the aquila". We also know that there is a "sign of the cog" used by the AdMech. I wonder if there is a "sign of the Inquisition" as well? Perhaps a stylized "I" shaped by a raised middle finger?
yep they always show that sign before they shoot a heretic "I" *BANG*

Sign of the cog? First time I've heard of that. But no, no, you need to reread your Infantryman's Uplifting Primer again, that's actually the sign of the Emperor's resolution made by devout servants before they send the enemies of Man off to recieve His Divine Judgement.
Are you kidding me thats fricken awsome lol and im pretty sure the sign of the cog is like a roman salute a fist over the heart? if not then correct me

Well the sign of the cog is somwhat similar to the sign of the aquila, you hld your hands acros your chest with fingers outstretched as to make them look like a cogwheel. Has the same religious tone for the AdMech as the sign of the aquila has for ecclesiarchs.
I could imagine the sign of the Cog crimping the fingers inward toward the chest while the palm of the upper land lays over the back of the lower. The crimped fingers would make a more cog-like image than merely splayed fingers and have the added benefit of looking different when used in game.
