Who is a good use of Dead Man's Switch?

The answer I see most often is a cheap Z-95. What I worry about, though, is that it's an easy kill and one turn of concentrated fire would take it down at a time when you don't want it to.

N'Dru comes to mind as he's usually not around the other ships in the list. That might make it better.

What about some of the big and important ships in your list? Something like a Firespray? I would think that if you had a big ship, you would catch more enemy in the blast. Also, you probably get more people getting in R1 of your big ship to try to take it out. Of course, this means that your own ships would be in range, as well.

What are the best uses of Dead Man's Switch? Does anyone have any good stories with it?

I actually think Boba is. If he does go down, he'll likely be in range 1 of an enemy which is where he likes to be. The large base also helps make the range 1 bubble quite large.

Unfortunately, I think Inertial Dampeners is a bit better on Boba as you can stall a bit and stay at Range 1 longer.

I'd also think I'd prefer Feedback Array on my Zs too. Maybe Emon? He'll be throwing bombs, might as well make him one.

Having your opponent forget about Deadman's Switch is the best use for it. I was playing a game against a list that had N'Dru with Dead Man's switch and totally forgot about it. My Soontir Fel had one hull left, his N'dru had two. Our other remaining ships were out of range or arc. Soontir ends up with a shot on N'dru's side. Wanting to make sure I got a kill shot, I boosted Soontir into one for his extra red die. Soontir gets the kill shot and blows himself up. Time ran out the next round giving my opponent the win.

Ha! Awesome. N'Dru is the perfect person to use it in my opinion.

I got the impression that my opponent felt a little bad because of a cheesy win but I was all

Very good response. I tip my hat

A local player and friend of mine has good experience with Dead Man Switch on cheap Z-95s and then a bomber, Emon is good because if you drop a bomb in a place that damages your opponent and kills your Z-95 (or even two of them) that usually ends up with a large amount of dead enemy ships.

Sounds like fun right? :D

A Z-95 for sure. I played a "mini-swarm" that had 3 of them with only one equipped with a deadman's switch. The other 2 died to a Tie swarm, but then the third forced bumps every turn afterwards. I had a blast just saying "Shoot me! shoot meeee!" every turn that the bumps happened. When it finally was destroyed, it damaged 3 ties and a Firespray. Good times :)

Actually, this sounds terrible! You just need to focus fire and it half kills itself. Why would you do this?

A Z95 DMS squad with Xizor could be interesting. Passing the hits to the Z's could be a way to control when the detonate. You could use new tactics like running across asteroids toward your opponents ships with one HP left. DMS gives your mini swarm of Z's the ability to be very aggressive, but I would probably tend to spread them out more than normal to prevent massive collateral damage.

Well, except that you would then cause it to detonate on Xizor! You would end up causing more damage than the original hit.

You don't leave it there. You take it to start passing the damage from Xizor to it and then once you get closer you peel off Xizor and leave the scumZ in the fray to deal and take damage and make them think twice about destroying it.

Would it be possible to "fake" activate Dead Man's Switch? THAT would be an awesome Scum tactic. To receive the death blow, activate Dead Man's Switch to hit your enemies, and then to pass off your death blow to another ship using Xizor, Bodyguard, or Draw Their Fire. I'm sure this doesn't work with the current wording of the cards, but if FFG released an upgrade or pilot later that allowed for a fake/premptive activation of Dead Man's Switch, that would be super Scummy.

Edit: ooops. I guess I should have read the wholé thread before responding. This was answered the same way so many hours ago I can't even claim to have been Ninja'd! lol

I think it is probably worthwhile on Pablo or Torkil. The other illicits are pretty crummy for the HWK and both Pablo and Torkil are big, easy to kill targets.

Other than that, cheap Z's, but Z's benefit from all of illicit slots upgrades equally.

Firespray's generally want feedback array to cover their blind spots or initial dampeners for movement shenanigans. Entities like Boba or an IG-88 are more likely to be in a last man standing situation where DMS doesn't really help you all that much.

I might try DMS on Pablo though, that sounds like fun.

4 with Feedback Arrays, 3 with Dead Man's switches. Magic shell game.

Maybe Emon mixed in with Zs in epic? If you could time it right you could have a ridiculously huge explosion area... and then lose almost your entire squadron in the process.

CAUSE BABY YOU'RE A FIREWORK!!! COME ON SHOW EM WHAT YOU'RE WORTH!!!

MAKE EM GO OH! OH! OH! AS YOU SPLAT ACROSS THE SKOH SKOH SKOH!!

boom boom boom even brighter than that small moon moon moon...

I used the 7 Z's with dead man's switch in a huge 750ptn's epic game yesterday,

that was fun!

due to time restraints we had to stop before we concluded the game, but in the end only one exploded

and damaged on of my partner in crime's IG-2000, but that is irrelevant.... I had about 5 of em buzzing around the Rebel's unshielded CR90, he wasn't to keen to target those... :D

Scum of the match was one plucky Z pirate suicidal zoom right up to the CR90 and chewie and leebo grinning madly, ready to blow up when...

he blocked Chewie and Leebo and watched as 150 metres of Rebel Corvette plowed those two unhurt ships into space debris,... leaving the pirate with a dead wish staring a bit unfullfilled at the sapctacle right infront of the 'vette....

It was awesome fun game :D

I'd say its best on Boba and N'Dru, but in epic games I think it'd be solid to throw them on a bunch of z-95s and fly them into huge ships, they'll die instantly and do 1-2 damage to the ship depending on the dice roll. I'd say they're good for damaging huge ships and dealing with swarms.

There was a thread in reddit where the guy was kamikaze'ing his Z's into a corvette. Maybe it was the previous poster of the 750pt epic from the last page?
