Eternal game play!? Solution?

By Theo7, in UFS Rules Q & A

Just a thought that popped into my head today after watching a Talim tank aganst a punch Terrry, untill terry milled...

A few months ago i was running a pre release and time was five minutes away, i found 2 of my players were sitting across the table from each other yelling pass ALOT! after some investigation i found they were both 2 cards off of losing through mill and had lost the same amount of health during the game, both were trying to protect themselves by passing their turns completely and effectively doing nothing. Seeing as this was knock out rounds i couldt rule a tie, so in the end i had to say that both players had to play at least one form during their turn otherwise i would call a loss for that person. This can and was seen as unfair by the losing party but i dont see how i could have done anything else.
How would you guys have got around it and is there anything official that states what happens after both players pass their own turns constantly?

Just wondering.

Cheers!
Theo

Something has already been said about passing turns here . I dunno if it'll help you though...

IMO, you did the right thing as that type of play would have gotten these guys nowhere, but I'm no judge :)

In that case, what will happen is follows:

After passing multiple times, with no change in game state (as was present in the situation you described), the game will be declared a draw.

If it is a best 2 out of 3 matchup, they'll proceed to the next game.

If it's a single game match, or a best 2 out of three situation in the cuts, that would deadlock the game/round you go to the following tie breakers:

1) Least amount of vitality lost. (Who is closer to their starting vitality)

if that is a tie proceed to:

2) Fewest # of cards removed from the game.

If still tied, proceed to:

3) First blood. Players start a new game, and play until one player successfully inflicts damage on the other.

cheers for the replys, and the links were very usefull thanks!

Another UFS Crisis Saved Due To Antigoth! *Cheer*

Thanks for the ruling, this is actually a very useful piece of information ^^ I think I'll keep that somewhere at the back of my head for our tournaments :)

For what it's worth - the above will be documented in detail in the upcoming tournament floor rules. Targeted release date is before worlds. Thanks for the kind words, glad I could help!
