Initial speed?

By AdmiralBowTIE, in Star Wars: Armada

Hey,

I can't quite figure out what is the exact rule for the initial speed setting. In the training Scenario it says every ship should start at speed 2. I figured this translates to the regular 180 points games as well. Is this correct? Or can each player choose the speed at which the ships enter the game for normal games?

Kind regards,

Rules Reference Page 10, #6, first diamond: You can set your initial speed to any available speed of your ship.

Does this include speed "0"? Maybe this seems obvious, but there is no speed "0" available on any ship's card (they all go from 1 - [max])

Also...something I just realized, one can use a Navigate command a Navigate token to reduce or increase speed by up to 2 in a single round, is that right? So for example a Vic could go from 0 to 2 (or 2 to 0) in 1 turn? That makes me want to bank up Nav commands.

The way we play it is "any speed on the card". So not speed zero and not speeds you can't go. When you place it on the table you set its initial speed.

The dial and the token only allow an increase or decrease of 1 each. When combined it can be 2.

• When a player places a ship, he must set its speed dial to a speed available on its speed chart.

My doubt is, if 0 is avaible to every ship, counts as being on the speed chart or not for the speed choice at the deployment phase.

The glossary says 0 is the minimum speed, and the maximun is at the speed chart. Rules as written i read it as you have to choose one speed from your speed chart.
