Program Malfunction

By ROTBI, in UFS Rules Q & A

I'm sure this has to have been asked before, but I went back 53 pages and didn't find a definitive answer. Sorry in advance but I need to know for sure. Can a player who's successfully played PM choose to keep it committed?

The card doesn't specifically say such may occur and the rules state at 7.1:

The Ready Step
The player readies all committed cards that they have in play.
7.1.1 This step is not optional, and must be completed before proceeding to the next step.

The only reason I ask is that I've heard some people say that you actually can choose to keep it committed. If 7.1.1 applies then the card seems far less useful.

Normally you can't choose to keep a card committed unless its text says so. Which means that Program Malfunction readies normally unless another of your cards give you the option of keeping it committed. As such, its effect is actually quite close to that of Chinese Boxing except that it is played as a form.

Hope that helped.
