Hi there, just wanted to let everyone know that there are 20 new faces on traditional character cards, as well as 7 pirates and 14 commandable ships in a pair of unusual home-made expansions for Talisman. All are available at Talismanisland.

The 20 "New" Faces are in addition to the Mystic, Blacksmith, Black Knight and other "Familiar Faces" from the previous expansion. We've been playing with them as if they were printed with the game, and we've been having a blast for months. The pirates are an acquired taste, but can be fun if you've got less time than is required for a traditional game. You can try playing both traditional and pirate characters at the same time, but the dungeon can make it an odd mix, since you can hide from the massive pirate ships whilst in its environs.

Group favorites are the Temporal Witch, Mouse Knight, and the Filcher (who breaks every rule and the fourth wall...). Players with a keen eye will also notice similarities to some other fantastic characters as well as the award-winning (woot!) Knight of Day.

I hope you enjoy playing them as much as I enjoyed creating them. And let me know how your experiences go with these "New" Faces!

Thanks. I only made a couple of tiny photoshop edits, with the most noticeable being the Mouse Knight having both a tailed and de-tailed version.

For those looking for great fantasy art to use in their personal campaigns and things, I recommend DeviantArt.com, filled with good stuff.

The Filcher had a last minute edit, allowing her player to steal the drink or chair of another player (like I said, breaking the fourth wall), and that card was updated today. Hope everyone has a blast doing interesting things with their newfound abilities.

I've been mulling over how to "shoehorn" some Pirate goodness into Talisman for years, not including Talisman Island and Pirates for Talisman Island!

Not long ago I went out and bought loads of the PotSM ships for inspiration, then my enthusiasm dried up and I swapped all of them for something or other.

Then I saw PotSM ships cheap again in the Works and TK Maxx so I proceeded to spend another small fortune on ships. Built a few and looked at them and now they are back in the cupboard!!!

I have a number of mad idea like that - kind of "Wow!! This would be cool!!" and then when it comes down to it you think... "Meh..."

I've been having another moment like that about a tower expansion I was making...

So, sorry to hijack your announcement thread (and ramble on!) but I would be interested in brainstorming something Piratey....

Make sure that the image is not copyrighted (unlikely) or that you have permission to reuse.

It would be fine if you keep for your own use but if you re-publish then you can end up in breach of copyright laws.
