the price still stands for the $10 per order. my order thing still has it listed as that. but there use to be only one listing for the coreset, which was all pre-orders. now there is two and the other is shipped from another seller.
Core Set for Pre-Order on Amazon (Rediculously Cheap)
I'm unclear. Your link shows two cores - one pre-order, one in stock, both $39. That your own pre-order price has not gone up from $10, I do understand.
The one in stock is from Top Shelf Games, it's some one selling on Amazon, not Amazon themselves. Amazon is still showing it not arrived yet.
No one posting on this thread has said he received a core set at under ten USD.
This seems to be the way they will wriggle out of honoring their pre-order price guarantee. I predict that everyone with either Amazon or Overstock cheap preorders will receive an email eventually saying "Sorry, we couldn't get any of these games, so we must regretfully close your order."
Hope I'm wrong.
Chick
Not this thread, but I could have swore (pfthang!) someone succeeded in paying $10 for core. But I can't find it either.
Overstock.com has changed the shipping date to Feb. 28. It appears they are just spitballing it.

I'm beginning to think it will just be delayed more often than Valley's Games Titan reprint. I'm going to pick up a core set at my FLGS or online and if someday Overstock sends me a core set at way too low a price, well then it will feel a little like Christmas.
This is too late to help anyone regarding the Core Set on Amazon...But I think I found a way to take advantage of an Amazon Mistake. And I did it by accident.
A couple years back, they put up Absolute Sandman Volume 1 for $15 bucks. (It's retail is $99) Now, it was due to come out in November. So I ordered it. And I noticed I had another book, already preordered, coming out in November. So I combined both orders. Lo and behold, a bunch of other people had their orders cancelled. But mine never was, and the book was eventually shipped at the price I had it on.
So it seems, if it's combined with an already existing order...It may work. Or I may have just been lucky.
Very interesting, AulayanD.
Question, what was the cover story (or what wording was used) by Amazon to justify ignoring the preorder price guarantee when the other folks' orders were cancelled? If you don't know, could you find out from your buddies?
Thanks !
I'm going to go try to add something else to my preorder, just for fun. Want to bet it changes my preorder to the $40 price?
Chick
Mm, sadly I don't know the cover story. I found out they were cancelled via the authors blog. (His blog also was the one who pointed it out to us readers.)
I think they just do it quietly and try to sweep it under the rug. If it happens to any of you, without an e-mail sent, e-mail their customer service and remind them of their policy. I've found Amazon's customer service to usually be really good...and if a stink is made it could cause them to honour it.
ive been thinking of emailing them about the coreset preorder. cause its alittle crazy to have two listings of the same item. usually if something is shipped from another location there are different buying buttons like this.
www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Patriots-Playstation-3/dp/B000FQ2D5E/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1
so something is weird with the way they are handling this.
I've never used Overstock before, but with my 2 core sets delayed again they are starting to appear like the car dealership on National Lampoon's vacation: "you think you hate the shipping date now Clark, but wait 'til you receive it."
I am canceling one of my 2 core's from Overstock, and ordering one at full price from my LGS today. As a previous poster mentioned, one at $10 in a month or two will be good murky Chthulhu gravy. In the mean time, it's time to kick into gear.
A nice Amazon customer service lady (in Bangalore) just helped me to add another item to my existing preorder for the cheap core sets.
An interesting book was added, to be shipped February 28th, and I still have the 'under $10' price listed for the core sets.
We shall see, and I'll report here if my experience turns out to me any different from the norm.
Chick
I don't see any option to add an item to my pre-order with Overstock, not sure if the trick will work for them.
Overstock already charged my card- I wonder if they might actually live up to their end of the deal?
hope amazon follows.
Just a moment ago I got a message from Overstock:
--------------------------------------
"Dear Chick Lewis:
We appreciate your preorder for:
Call of Cthulhu Card Game Core Set (Cards).
Unfortunately, the studio/publisher has delayed the release of this product until 2009-02-28.
As you requested at the time of purchase, we will hold your order and immediately ship it to you
when it becomes available. If you prefer, you may cancel your order anytime prior to shipment for
a full refund by calling us toll free at 1-800-The-BIG-O (843-2446).
We appreciate your business and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused."
--------------
Obvious bullpuckie, since the item was released more than a month ago.
I have a new theory. Overstock, since they already have our money, will just sit tight getting the interest while sending us 'delayed' messages every month until we demand our money back, getting them off the hook.
Opinions?
Chick
i was thinking kinda the same thing. with amazon the pre-order is now at regular price, so im thinking they will wait until either they get enough pre-orders at full price to make up for the loss of the $10 ones, which could be a while since the difference between retail and manufacturor prices cant be that large on small objects. or they wait until enough people cancel out of the cheap pre-order, which then they need less full price orders to recover their loses.
edit: i just sent an email to amazon about this, wonder what their response will be.
wow, got a quick response. they didnt answer the question why they dont have the item in stock, but other sellers on the site do. i gave them the links to both pages so they could see. they said i could cancel the item at anytime if i want......
on top of that they mentioned the delay and not being able to get it from the suppliers as quick as they'd like. and because all the trouble this is causing they gave me $5 towards my next amazon purchase......haha. i just want them to ship the items i ordered and wanna know why they cant ship it when other places have it in stock for weeks now.
What email address did you sent to PJaholic? Maybe if I ask for information they'll send me a $5 voucher as well.

then login and you have like three tabs pick the email one. i included the order number since the one field asked for it.
Not to keep an ancient thread from dying a natural death, but my Overstock order now read that it will ship on 03/28/09.
If it actually comes, well then merry Christmas. It really won't butt hurt me too much though. I knew the listed price was a mistake and I wouldn't have expected an FLGS to honor it. It feels a little dishonest. Either way, I already got a full price core box at my local game store, and I don't feel I was cheated in any way.
I just got a notification from Overstock.com saying that my order (at 9.85) has shipped!!!!
You are teasing us, Right, DragonStout ??
My order has been casually kicked back a month to 3/28 as well.
And they still list the price as $9.95, but now claim it is SOLD OUT rather than for pre-order.
Did they ship Dragonstout the ONLY one they stocked ??
Chick
I just checked my overstock order and it says it has shipped "Shipped 02-11-2009" and there is a UPS confirmation number. The ups number does not display any tracking info yet, so I'm still doubtfull. Murphy's law says I'll get it at this price because I now wish I ordered 4 instead of one.
