Core Set for Pre-Order on Amazon (Rediculously Cheap)

By Master of R'lyeh, in CoC General Discussion

Amazon considers this a Book and the product even states it is part of their Pre-order price guarantee so I think they should uphold it. Whether or not they do and leave it up to the customer to challenge their decision is to be seen.

Let us know if anyone gets it for 9.95!

Well, things are not looking good. Amazon have removed the "Jan 5" estimate for when core sets will ship. No revised date is stated.

Chick

My overstock order says Jan 28th for estimated delivery. Makes me think it might be an asylum pack instead.

I just placed an preorder from Overstock thanks to this thread. The ISBN listed is correct for the core set so I don't see how they can change it to a different product. I'm thinking it is more likely we'll get an apology that they can't sell it at the current price and offer to give it to us at MSRP minus their standard discount. They do advertise that it is 75% off of Amazon's price of 39.95. We'll see I guess. Has anyone heard of a date in January that this might be available. Overstock states 1/28 but it sounds like they are just overestimating.

Good looking out, for $13 total shipped I picked one up as well. I just want the domains and tokens.

I picked one up as well. For those purchasing make sure you hit the link on the left, with the January 2009 release date below the descriptor. Shipping time will be very slow, but worth the wait.

Wish I had ordered two...

What "link on the left"? I just used the "pre order" button and proceded to my cart.

you are fine (as you know) -- I was on a different page, with different options. Didn't want to chance anything else. What is positive locally is that now we are ordering our LGS's are getting on board.

Amazon just emailed me with a demand to choose between canceling my order or renewing it, as the shipment was delayed. I chose to renew the order, knowing they would re-up me at the full price, BUT that doesn't seem to have happened. I still seem to have an active order for five copies for under $50 total. Very strange. Still no estimated ship date from Amazon. They claim I can cancel at any time.

So I went to overstock and ordered five more copies. for only $53 total, (since shipping is cheap but notfree from Overstock).

We shall be patient and see whence leads this strange tale.

Chick

i didnt get any email about that. my order still says estimated shipping date jan 5th.

Pearljamaholic, that is very interesting.

Any chance you are looking at a cached page? Might be worth hitting the refresh button to check.

Why 5? One for me to play, four for my local opponents. They will be thrilled, I hope.

Chick

i got the email early this morning. my guess is they assumed they would have it to ship......but like everything from ffg it wasnt released as thought.

I received an Amazon email as well. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. My order still has the price listed as $9.95 though.

Did any of you get those cheap COC Core Sets from Amazon.com already?

Well, lots of other places seem to have their core sets for sale now, but not Amazon or overstock. I wonder if they have decided not to carry the item, in order to avoid honoring their pre-purchase price guarantee. It might be a good business decision to not lose $15 per pre-ordered set.

In spite of my best laissez-faire attitude, I'm getting impatient.

I as well; I'm usually a staunch supporter of local stores, and now I'm regretting my overstock.com orders. Two starters for $20 is amazing, but I explored my account last night and they are not due to mail out until January 28th.....

Does Overstock, based on any of your experiences, simply cancel orders late in the month? I hope not...

i dont think amazon is trying to find a way out of the 9.95 deal. they dont have mountains of madness in stock and they dont even have ancient horrors listed properly (it has agot art) so i think their whole coc section is messed up.

Did any of you get the COC Core Set from the amazon.com, price $9.99 preorder?

still waiting.............ill need them by march 4th so amazon better hurry up with it.

Thank you for your reply.

Did they confirm they will sell and ship it for the price you ordered them or $39?

I can no longer cancel my overstock.com purchase which is supposed to mean that they are now filling the order. We should find out this week if they are going through.

Overstock appear to have not yet figured it out. They are still accepting orders at the $9.95 price. Pretty amazing. I'm very interested to see how this plays out.

Chick

I also purchased from Overstock in case it turns out to be worth it. Hopefully someone on here'll find out soon so we can all know if it was a good risk or not.

Overstock just changed their expected ship date from 1/28/09 to "sometime in February '09 - subject to change".

Pfui.

But they still list them for $9.95 and brag about being 75% cheaper than Amazon. I wonder if they will ever actually ship?

Chick

now things are getting interesting.........

www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_t

one is in stock and the other isnt. guess which one is from the 9.95 pre-order? the one thats not in stock.......

per pj's link, amazon.com is now $39 both pre-order and in stock. If Overstock.com changes its $10 core price, they would need to send an email to a purchaser of a pre-order to inform them, and wait for the client to pay more or not. They can not just charge the newer rate. If you ignore their email, then I'm not sure how it would play out. Didn't someone say they received the core at the $10 price?
