I called Amazon and may have gotten my $9.95 order reinstated. I told them that they sent the wrong product and they told me they can't exchange things but I could place the order again. I think they followed through. I now have 3 individual core sets on one order, not one order qty 3, but Core Set, Core Set, Core Set, with a cost of $0.00 beside it. I'm think now they're going to ship the Core Sets when they come in instead of refunding me on the packs. I'll have to wait and see if it works out before too long if I don't get a refund for the packs.

If you call, emphasize that they sent the wrong item, it seemed to help me.

Just got my Overstock order today. It was a pack of "The Spawn of the Sleeper", not the core set. What is even weirder is my shipping invoice said the asylum pack not the core set. Did someone here actually get a core set from Overstock? What did your shipping invoices say?

The issue that I see here is that the ISBN number on my Spawn of the Sleeper pack is the same that Amazon and Overstock, as well as other sites, have as the ISBN for the core set. I think there is a mix up of the description of the game and the ISBN's of what they are actually selling, not really sure where the blame lies on this but it seems like I am going to return my asylum pack and be done with it for now.

I just got off the phone with overstock and I was told they will give me a prepaid envelope to return the asylum pack as well as send me the correct item I ordered (core set). I will crap my pants if I actually get a core set as a replacement but I asume it will be another asylum pack. Wish me luck.

Well, I have some new understanding of the cause of the confusion at the retailers, and have almost gotten to the heart of the matter. It is likely that neither Amazon nor Overstock are culpable in this mess.

It seems that somewhere either at FFG or at one of their major distributors, the product names and ISBN numbers got mixed up. Let's call it a really bad series of typos.

I corresponded with Bryan at FFG and he let me know that there is also confusion about the Horror Beneath the Surface asylum packs. I've included my questions and his answers at the end of this message.

Bottom line is codified in my little chart below. Look at the last three digits in each number.

So the whole issue is a giant ball of weasels at this point.

Since neither Amazon nor Overstock actually made the errors, I'm canceling my orders for cheap core sets after I manage to return the SotS Asylum packs which I expect to find on my doorstep this evening. Not fair to try to punish them for somebody else's mistake.

My dream of super-cheap core sets is now officially dead.

As you may have heard, there is considerable confusion at both Amazon.com and Overstock.com as to the correct ISBN numbers for the CoCLCG Core Set and the Spawn of the Sleeper Asylum pack. Could you please email me the correct ISBN numbers for both of those products? With that information I MAY be able to straighten out the mess with my orders at those retailers.

if its not amazon or overstocks mistake im sure they will hold their suppilers responsible for the mistake too. amazon had it listed as 9.95 which means someone gave them that as a retail price. so amazon is probably fighting over the price with the suppilers which could be why its taking so long. they were told the $10, sold it for $10, and now have to buy it for more than that. im sure amazon is saying you told us it will cost $10 retail and you have to eat the difference or dont count on us doing business anymore.

This makes a lot of sense. Overstock has now changed their product description for the core set on their website to say it is the Spawn of the Sleeper Asylum pack. They are still showing the artwork for the core set, though. Bummer about all of this, but they did refund my money for the core set. Oh, well, all of our hopes are dashed, it appears.

Twinim, thanks very much for your warning. You are correct, the slimeballs at Overstock unilaterally changed my order to Spawn of the Sleeper Asylum Packs.

Just for fun, I decided to go completely hardline and try to browbeat them into honoring the order, since I prepaid many weeks ago. I failed to get any satisfaction.

amazon still hasnt shipped mine yet, so i dont know whats going on there.

I was able to place an order two months ago for both the Core set and the Spawn of the Sleeper Asylum pack. The Asylum pack shows shipped as of yesterday. The Core set still shows as Temporarily out of Stock and they removed the pending ship date of Feb. 28, 2009.

got an email from amazon today saying 3/16-20/2009..........yeah right. im not canceling the order cause im not charged until it ships. so ill just keep it there, forever if need be.

I got an email from Amazon as well. It shows three coresets with an expected arrival date of 3/5/09.

This morning, March 1st, Amazon says it shipped me five of something. The link from my order leads back to the $39.95 coresets. I guess we will know soon enough. They claim the package will be delivered the 4th, which is Wednesday.
