[Needed] Hiver Gang Bike

By Gregorius21778, in Dark Heresy House Rules

Greetings, brethern

This sunday, my group will visit "Gateway 17" (see the adventure section of "DarkReign") and in my version of the offered scenario concept I will want to introduce a little bike gang selling obscura inside the slums of tenements & functioning as "strong arm" for the Cartell (which goes by the name of "Valentian Syndicate" in my version).

Anyway, a bike gang (the "BLITZ", as I call them) is not complete without... right, bikes! Here, I would like to harvest your thoughts for some inspiration on rules /stats I can put to use.

What I am not looking for are "combat bikes" like the ones mentioned in the "Apocrypha" but smaller, unarmed things with the feel of "AKIRA" (not the machine of Kaneda but the ones Tetsuo and folk had been riding).

Any ideas for those? Or some checks/rules for "drive by attacks" made from bikes? Sooner or later, my pc WILL run into the "BLITZ" or the "BLITZ" will target them for being to nosy (Gangs make good "cover" for syndicate assasination... where an outright "assasination" might raise suspicion, a case of "wanton murder" caused by a crazed street gang raiding into inner city won´t..

Thanks for your support!
This forum has always been a source for good ideas, and I am glad to be part of it.

Didn't Apocrypha: Vehicles have rules for an outrider scout bike/dirt bike? Wouldn't that fit what you're looking for?

Nope! Just the "combat bikes", this "hulking" things which are a heavy-metal-meanies wet dream. Therefore, I wonder what a "regular, small bike" would be like.

I think I try the following

Size: "Normal"
Armour: 6 on all spots (this things arent armoured at all!)
Narrative Speed : 65 / 200
Armaments: None
Handling (Skill): +10 (Drive: Ground Vehicle)
Crew: 1
Passenger: 1 ("back")
Trait: Open

...but how have they been calculating "combat speeds"??

Anyway, I think if it comes to "combat: pedestrian vs. bike" I will do the following.

1) Go for Ini, and givining the bikers as suitable boni if they are "charging"
2) If the pc go first, they can act
3) On the round of the biker, they will initiate a "drive-by", allowing for an attack "and passing by with speed"
3a) The pc "drive byed" can spend the reaction for an attack
3b) If the pc "waited", he will have his attack.. on a successfull AG-Check (bike is coming in FAST!)
4) Biker passes... and need to make pilot-check, or he/she will need a full round to "re-arrange" himself for the next attack.

If a biker gets hit,...well, what to do? Pilot-Test in order not to be knocked?

It seems like a good idea... but wow the game is severly lacking in vehicle combat rules beyond really really basic stuff. The Vehicle Apocrypha has some decent rules on how to handle them, the Attack Vehicles section looks like it will give you a decent outline but the rest is really up to what you feel is best. I sorta like the idea of the drive test to stay on the bike if the driver gets hit, not the bike though. Also I would impose a -20 on BS and WS tests to try and hit the biker because they are going so fast, I would also say allow hard target to boost this to a -40 because they know how to avoid. I wouldn't give them a pilot check to dodge since they are devoting themselves to a drive by attack rather then a more cautious approach.

Also consider that Drive checks should only be made on hard menuevers, not something simple as turning around if you have enough room even if you are going a high speed. Unless you want to do something really dramatic, but why would the bikers do something that insane? =D (probably would though heh)

Just only have them do Drive checks if what they are doing is harder them normal driving circumstances.

I would also give the bikers atleast a -10 on tests to hit the PC's because they are going by so fast. not a -20 because they are the ones in control of it and prepared for it.

Hi Karn!
Thx for reply, really appreciatet!

*nods* No problem, I hope it helps you out. Search around Dark Reign a bit to, I recall something about expanded Vehicle Combat rules their.
