Don't do it the way I did, and trash your A-wing and B-wing.
Use a pin drill. You can find them at most Hobby centers. If you use a small enough bit you will be able to shake out the last of the peg and save the D shape.
Yeah, I've used a very small pin drill with decent success. Also I read somewhere about someone using a red hot needle and sticking it in there, then letting it cool a bit before pulling it out.
Dropped my Falcon and the entire peg hole shattered. I over drilled a hole into the falcon and glued in a plastic tube (plastruck...available in most model stores). Then I glued in a smaller diameter tube into the first one so the whole assembly sticks out about 1/4 inch. The inner tube is just small enough that the top of the FFG peg (the triangle bit on the end) jams in rather snuggly. Its actually the most stable mount I have now.
On smaller ships, if you have to break off the peg mount from the ship, I would drill out enough to put a tube in that an FFG small peg can just fit into. Then add a smaller tube inside the first to act as stop for the FFG peg.
I'd post pics but I have never been able to paste anything into this forum.
