Neb B-Escort: Repair dial + Repair token + Engineering Team + Redemption

By Gibarian, in Star Wars: Armada

Is it correct that these can all be used in conjunction, to generate a whopping 7 engineering points?

I don't see why not. They're all allowed as far as I can tell.

I couldn't find anything preventing it, either. But it felt too good to be true when I discarded two damage cards and redirected a shield in front of the exposed facing. Guess it's just the shock of uncovering combos in a fresh system.

Yeah I hear you :) I imagine it's so powerful because Redemption only triggers when it's actually a full command and not a token?

Actually I think I might be wrong. I think Redemption triggers even off a token use. Wow.

I think so too.

But I guess Nebs really do need the help considering those squishy side values they have.

I think Redemption's ability can only apply to other ships, though, because of the way the range for its ability is described.

Redemption's ability (emphasis mine): When a friendly ship at distance 1-5 resolves a repair command, it gains 1 additional engineering point.

Rules Reference on Range and Distance (page 9):

  • The following terms are used when discussing range and distance:

    • At: If any portion of a hull zone, base, or token is inside a specified band, that component is at that band.

    • Minimum–Maximum: This abbreviation encompasses the minimum band, maximum band, and all bands in-between, such as “distance 1–4.”

So Redemption would actually be at range 0 from itself, and not at range 1-5 as required for its ability. But if you had another Nebulon-B in range of Redemption, then this could work for that one.

In X-wing a ship is at distance 1 of itself, so things like that (that don't specify 'other ships') usually effect the ship itself.

Until we get an FAQ i'd say Redeption effects itself.

A ship can consider itself friendly, not sure where the source for that is though.

Its stated in the Rules Reference. A ship is considered to be friendly and at distance 1 of itself. You'll notice Howlrunner specifically says another friendly ship, so she doesn't give herself the extra die.

"A ship or squadron is considered friendly to itself and can be targeted by effects that that specifies a friendly target unless it explicitly specifies "another" Friendly ship or squadron"
