So much depth and we've barely scratched the surface!

The title pretty much says it all. 2 games in the books and I am seriously impressed by the amount of tactical decisions and strategic considerations that go into this game. And this is coming from someone that normally pushes cardboard chits around with the likes of GMT, MMP, and other grognard favorites.

And that's only with a 180 pt game! I truly look forward to diving into this series , learning what will be a multitude of strategies and build options, and continuing to be a part of this community.

And on that note; I've been a lurker in this forum for months now and I must say this is an astonishingly mature and thoughtful group, obviously dedicated to having fun, and I look forward to peeling back the many layers of this game with all of you!

Did you just call us Mature? I don't know how I feel about that. :P

Seriously, welcome to the forums and the fantastic game Armada. As for our community, hey we can disagree and still be decent with one another. Even when we poke fun at each other. Hopefully we can remain respectful as the community grows and the game draws more players. The key is to remember this is a game based on our childhood dreams, that and don't mention the ship that should not be named. ;)

Yep, the game is awesome. Most people I tought to play, said it felt like they were playing empire at war again, but awesomer cause they are actually moving the ships and commanding them. Plus the way the ships move and predicting the commands just feels perfect

Yes I agree, so excited and its met my very high expectations. Can't wait for wave one now!

It really is a full blooded tabletop game in the best of ways.

give it time.

but in all seriousness; i'm at the same level as you. only two games in with a friend just yesterday and we each played both factions. i seriously can't wait for wave 1 to release

i just hope my wife loves this game also (she's currently away at ECCC this weekend), because then it means i'm buying a secondary core set so we can start battling with 300 point fleets in the coming days to weeks

Welcome. Glad to have you with us.

Our LGS community had this exact same discussion!

Good golly yes. This is now easily my favorite FFG game (with honorable mention to X-Wing, Eldritch Horror, and Imperial Assault) (and I own a lot of FFG games). I'm chomping at the bit for the upcoming content. This game delivers something I've been waiting for for at least two decades, and it does it in spades.

I have some truly devilish plans for future game sessions. The might of the Imperial Navy will be felt by all rabble-rousers and miscreants!

And welcome to the funny farm! Please check your coat, hat, and sanity at the door!

I've played Empire at War but I feel there's more focus on the ships than in that game. There's more command depth and ship control here than in EAW... kind of has a grasp on operations like Starfleet Command did for trek ships (but not nearly as detailed).

I think this is my favorite ship battle game now. Firestorm Armada is also pretty good but I find I like the increased focus on individual capital ships over the necessity of bigger ship groups. Also not using dice for defending is an incredible plus.

Played 4 games, had a blast through them all. Watched a Victory I Star Destroyer finally burn in our 2nd full 300 pt game. Being forced to move forward unable to slow down due to the lack of navigation command, the VSD overlapped 5 squadrons of X-wings, and 4 Tie groups :S. My opponent moved my fighters to the rear of the ship, and his X-wings to the front. This let 5 X-wing squadrons led by Skywalker put my VSD to rest in a single torpedo salvo because they were no longer engaged.

I loved it. Of course Tarkin went down with his ship.

Sorry, Wes -- it must be said: "Evacuate? In our moment of triumph?!?"

Agreed, my friend!!

We've barely begun our enthralling journey -there's all ready so much fun to be had!

Imagine how the dynamics will change even further when the Wave 1 expansions hit! I'm VERY VERY interested in the Starfighter Squadron interactions and synergies that will unfold.

SO complex yet simple at the same time! I LOVE it!

You will love 300 points then. I found it to be significantly better with more ships on the table (2 VSDs vs 2 Nebs and 2 corvettes). A lot of the upgrades are more useful when there are more targets. Plus there are lots more tactical decisions to make - the order you activate your ships can have a HUGE impact on the outcome of the battle which is just awesome (whether it to attack first, move a ship to safety, or grab an objective before your opponent does).
