Painting: Alternate Fleets and color schemes

By Commander Kahlain, in Star Wars: Armada

First off, a place to discuss "Thematic" Fleet Variants. Both their paint schemes, and how their option cards might differ. Special rules and or scenarios also welcome

Rebellion:

1. Alliance to Restore the Republic --

Color scheme : standard

Options : standard

2. Alliance affiliated pirate group -- in it for the credits. Their hardware & intel sometimes help the Rebellion -- and vice versa

Honestly, this is just an excuse to paint your Rebels any color you want ;)

Options : standard

Imperial --

Color scheme : any color you want, as long as it is "Imperial March Grey"

Options : standard

1. Covers Imperial fleets from Grand Moff, all the way down to recently promoted commanders

2. See Dark Siders under Scum & Villainy

3. Thoughts on how to expand this list -- greatly appreciated

For example: what alternate color schemes am I missing? What restrictions / additions to upgrades

Scum & Villainy:

1. Down on their Luck Pirates -- too disreputable for the Alliance to be involved with

Color scheme : ships should look beaten up -- on a good day, they have the credits to maintain their flagship

Options : limited to non-Imperial / non-Alliance upgrades

2. Dark Siders : either Imperials running a covert op, or pirates secretly on the payroll of the local Imperial authorities

Color scheme : ships should look beaten up -- while they have plenty of money for maintenance and upgrades, they shouldn't look well maintained, or well upgraded

Options : Rebel ships are used. Generic upgrades may be used freely. Imperial upgrades may be taken -- but only those that fit the scenario or campaign

Grand Moff Tarkin wouldn't make a lot of sense as the commander, unless you are recreating his early exploits

Thought of a few more items...

Home Brew Commanders Needed:

Rebellion:

3. Remember Alderaan! The survivors: While you were conducting business off-world, everyone you ever knew was fragged by the Imps. Now, you have a rather large axe to grind...

Color scheme : Bright red with white markings. (markings often shown bordered in black)

Options : Standard

Scum & Villainy :

3. Before the Hammer Fell : Pirates who somehow managed to capture/salvage/steal/ "borrow" an Imperial Warship

* They ARE coming for you... It's only a matter of time.

Color scheme : Red Star Destroyers, anyone?

Options :

ONE ship may be Imperial, the rest should be Rebs / Generics

The "captured" ship may have Imperial Tech upgrades -- these were on the ship when it was captured

The effects of titles are lost

No Imp Officers, Teams, or Commanders may be used

SCENARIO SEED: Before the Hammer Fell :

A group of deep-space "salvagers" has acquired a Gladiator class Star Destroyer. Seeking to avoid any Imperial Entanglements, the group has arranged to sell the vessel to the highest bidder. Unbeknownst to the pirates, they have sold the ship to Rebel agents who believe they can hack the Imperial holo-net uplink on board. The ISB has discovered where the hand - off will occur. Warships have been dispatched to stop the trade, and destroy as many Rebels and Pirates as they can.

wait. why do the scum and villainy need to look beaten up? i'm sure there are plenty of pirates that take pride in their ships and keep them looking new with 3 coats of wax every other month

You are quite correct. I assumed that all pirates would prefer to spend their hard earned credits on fast living. My profound apologies to Scum & Villainy everywhere.

Since we now know there are pirates who would prefer to spend their credits on tricking out their rides, that just reinforces my original question. Are we talking original "show-room" paint? Customized paint jobs with 50 layers of cherry red lacquer? How are you seeing these pirates painting their ships?

Yeah, I have a job and my van looks like crap. The drug dealer downtown have some serious pimped out candy apple and chrome cars.
