And, while the DC and DE area guys will probably have honed decks, the NY players will be mostly bumbling along due to lack of LCG play (Long Island guys are playing primarily Standard when they meet up) or lack of play, period (the NYCers have had less frequent meetups as summer plans/school/exam preps/etc have played havoc with our scheduling), so you wouldn't be alone as far as folks not completely in-tune with the current LCG environment.
half of us honed DE guys are new players and the other half are kevin and I, and kevin is the scarier of the two. And only half are really DE guys the other are PA.
(I apologize in advance, but I really can't resist this quip....)

~ Why is Kevin scarier? I thought your MwNK deck was dominant to the point of not being fun.

~yeah, i'm glad someone took that shot :-D seriously lars, if you don't at least show up with this NPE MWNK deck, you're going to take a lot of heat on these forums forevermore :-P

Actually - I don't miss you at all, wiseass. Its just your fan boys that do.
And i went 3-0 in NYC last night, BTW. Ask LGR about it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I was testing a brand-spanking-new deck and playing with the Shadow mechanic for the first time and, of course biffed it horrendously, forgetting that I need to take my card out of Shadows at the start of each phase. ~Clearly a win to be proud about.
I was talking about this with one of the other guys last night and, and we both agreed that we were fine with the Shadows mechanic conceptually, but feel like it was a bit soon to roll out what is a faily big addition to the game's rules. That said, who knows when the "right" time is since new players will (hopefully) continue to find the game.
And a completely trivial observation: Shadows Arya has a printed cost of s1 on her card. However, in the Shadows rules addendum, the picture of the Arya card for the example has a cost of s2. It makes me wonder where along the testing the cost was revised (at 2 gold to get her out of Shadows, I think she'd lose all appeal).
Don't forget those locations... they make arya free. She can die and come back every phase if it's winter.

~have you met kevin? its obvious which one of us is scarier. Plus he gets the title of scartier in AGoT becuase he has played against bruno in a 1v1 game. i've only played against bruno in melee.

~ Oh, well, playing against Bruno doesn't impress us here in the Midwest.

~it used to scare the hell out of me, then someone told me his weakness.....save the cheerleader....beat bruno?!?
Lars said:
~Well, you know, playing against Bruno and beating him are two different things. One is less impressive than the other.
i dunno about that, jeff said he learned a lot playing against bruno, especially to remember to trigger some of his own effects. Notice the lack of a ~.
Undoubtedly, playing against a player that is better than you (and most of us, a 12-18 months ago would agree that in general, Bruno was a better player) will teach you something about the game, playing the board, etc. I don't think that necessarily makes someone scarier since they have to remember those things they learned when they play someone else. I mean, I've played against Bruno. I've even beaten Bruno. And I am not particularly scary, even though I learn a lot from playing him (as I learn a lot when I play most anyone, really) because I still make copious mistakes.
~ But I notice you're dodging the whole MwNK at the Kingsmoot question, Lars.
~SHHHHHHH!!! you'lll ruin the mystique!
~since they were deemed irrelevant to competative play i've taken them out of my deck.
~even if your not going to be at the tourney are you still allowed to scout decks?
Lars said:

~ Not irrelevant, just not the Valyrian Doom to anything neutral.
~ I'm not scouting; I'm just wondering why you're deflecting attention away from yourself after all that time discussing the card/deck and wondering why no one seemed to appreciate the problem. I thought you'd be looking forward to it.
~I didn't want anyone to know i'm playing lanni, the best house ever FTM 1337 haxors!!!11

In all seriousness, the one victory that I have against Bruno is one of my top two absolute most memorable AGOT moments.

~ It would be like mainn to come back just after I paid for a linode.... which means regardless of mainn updating his site I now have an obligation to not waste my money.
I sent you pictures of all of a time of ravens around february... (crashing gmail while i was at it).
Well, I liked what you had started, so if you're still motivated and close to the finish line, I'd still like to see your site go live. A couple things that are missing from Mainn's site are LCG-only search and chapter pack card distribution (that's a biggie, especially for folks who are playing in a League using League deck building rules).
Both of which were planned and included.
I do have to say... mainn must have put some effort into his search engine because... it's better than mine in terms of ordering cards by relevance and figuring out what to wildcard.
I've also posted the code to what i've done so far at sourceforge under the BSD Liscence.
It's called crowccg... anyone can look it you want it's in ruby on rails. Sourceforge has an interesting... interface, so I can't help you with anything there... once I've gotten live I might go there and make it easier to get the source.
is this somethign hat can be tacked on to an existing website (like mainn's or the NYC crews) or does ti needs its own site? i have no problem with either i was just thinking of ease of information gathering.
Hi Tzu,
It was a great pleasure to have you back. You site has become legedary among players and even FFG do refer to your site. Something that is quite rare in the industry.
I wish you all the best.
Yours,
Mike
The host for the NYC site is just a web builder. (It doesn't support something as complicated as a custom database.)
I had thought of that... as for mainn's site... that depends on if mainn wants to implement that.
