Squadrons and Accuracy

By Beatty, in Star Wars: Armada

So an interesting question came up in game tonight and we couldn't find a direct answer in the rule book so I have to ask. Normally this won't come up until you use named pilots with defense tokens but does a Squadron get to use Accuracy when shooting at a target with defense tokens?

If there is an answers in one of the rule books can you point me to the page?

We are playing the answer as yes. The rules state what accuracy is used for and there is nothing about squadron attack that changes that that we can find.

yes?

The accuracy definition in the rules reference makes no distinction between a squadron or ship shooting - just says The attacker.

Squadrons only ignore critical hit icons.

So yes, your squadrons can stop your capital ships from using defense tokens and hero squadrons from using them too against their attacks.

That's how we played it and think it works. I just needed to double check to make sure I wasn't missing a sub-rule somewhere.

Thanks guys.

Well since all the fighters I have seen so far only throw one die at capitals so accuracy isn't useful there. So unless there is an ability for them to throw more dice Accuracy is not needed. Well the B-Wing throws two black dice but there are no accuracy symbols.

Bwings appear to be 1 blue and 1 black, the hero gets 2 black. And accuracy will be useful against squadrons, the fact that it's "generally" 1 die against a ship already limits defense tokens usefulness if multiple squadrons are attacking.

I'll have to reread the rules. At the GenCon demo, squadrons couldn't make use of accuracy at all so I've carried that over. Obviously things can change (and some have).

There is no mention of Squadrons not being able to use Accuracy results in the RRG under Attacks. In that same heading thier is mention of Crits and thier non-effect except Ship to Ship. As such there seems to be no reason to suggest Squadrons can't utilize Accuracy.

Yeah, the Accuracy bit just mentions attacker and defender, while the critical hit section specifies only ships. That's good enough for me.

Yeah, the rules are pretty clear. They can make use of accuracy just like ships.
