Final updates from Atlanta store championships!

By nikk whyte, in X-Wing

We had two today. One was won by double aggressors, nothing fancy there.

The other was an insane ride from start to finish.

First, a triple interceptor list (the one that won my last update) went 84 points from having a perfect MOV after 5 rounds, going 5-0 into the cut.

3 Falcons made top 8, only 1 with 3po.

One double aggressor list, made top 4.

Palob, torkil, kavil squeaks into the top 8 by 3 points, proceeds to dismantle the three interceptors, the fat han, and 4 y wings at the final table.

Yes, the final table was 5 y-wings and 2 HWKs

Ys and HWKs pretty good Yknow. I like them. They're a different way to play. Gotta learn like ints. CuZ the dial is so restricted.

What was the double Aggressor build list? I'm looking for good Aggressor build lists to playtest, my own having been only moderately successful.

I played against the dual Aggressors in the first round of cuts. I'm pretty sure it was B and C, both had HLCs, one had FCS, the other Advanced Sensors. One had Adrenaline Rush. Both had Autothrusters.

My Bombers and Shuttle put up a good fight, but he outflew me at every turn.

Just a bit of an update: that 2nd game was actually in Columbus, GA- about 100 miles southwest of Atlanta. Small detail but important to some. ;)

The full results can be found here.

It's all good. Last week, Nick was claiming Statesboro as "Atlanta", and I'm pretty sure that if we keep it up, Nationals will end up being in "Atlanta" too. That's the thing about us Atlanta X-Wing players... we bring flags with us.

(Public service announcement, if you didn't get the last joke there, go watch some Eddie Izzard - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTduy7Qkvk8)

How did James Ayer lose to David Lambright? How does a three Autoceptor list lose to a pair of HWKs and a Y-Wing? It doesn't make sense

I'm dying to see the write up on tabletopgeneral as well.

Trust me I know. I not only used to live/work in Atlanta but my dad's construction company was there for the "boom" that was the Olympics and about a decade after. We had a running theory that one day Atlanta would be such a large, general collection of smaller towns that it would just be a huge block on the state map :P . But the hometown boy in me had to do a shout out to the town proper....

And indeed it was a great day of X-Wing games. Glad to see so much conversation coming out of our "little" tournament. And looking forward to seeing so many familiar faces now at Regionals!

Just trying to keep it simple for the boards, no offense meant.

Great day of x wing though, even though my 2-3 record doesn't show it.

You'll get to see David's list on our live stream this Wednesday at twitch.tv/fcbcomicsgames. I'd have him and James play together, but they played twice in the tournament and James has been on the stream quite a lot.

Ill be posting details when I get off work today.

I do want a tiebreaker match at some point, but it'd be a pain to schedule along with another streamed game, both of our matches were over in 25 minutes or less.

Maybe if there's time we'll throw up a third.

Great write-up. That 2-hwk Y list is pretty nasty. The feedback Carnor defense is genius.

Have you had your interceptor list against a competent 4Bz list yet? Seems like a lot of shields to get through.

Outside of tournament play, the only thing that has taken down the 3 Interceptors is a very competent local player, InstantAequitas, using 3 Blue Squadron pilots and Luke with Lone Wolf & R5-P9, and that was while I was still getting the feel for the list during league play.

Since then, the closest to that I've faced has been 4 Blue Squadron pilots with Tacticians, and I tore that to shreds.

B-Wings are actually much easier for this build than more agile ships, because I can be more conservative with my focus tokens and still get damage through. They don't die quickly, but they do die.

Absolutely non-taken....Moxie will bring our flags when we head north ;)
