Do squadrons have speed?

By Adlerson, in Star Wars: Armada

I'm asking, since the rules, both LTP and RR, just says 'If the defender's speed is "0", he cannot spend any defense tokens'.

I assume they only mean /ships/ in this, but want to make sure.

Squadrons have a speed. It is printed in yellow on the card. ie, ties are speed 4 and x-wings speed 3.

They also have no defense tokens so it doesn't really matter.

Hero led squadrons do have defense tokens, like Luke or Howlrunner. But the speed 0 rule doesn't apply to them since they're no ships.

As someone else pointed out, hero squadrons DO have defense tokens.

As for the speed value that is the max speed.

That said, I think I've found what I looked for. RR, page 12, bullet point 4:

'- When a squadron moves, it can chose to remain in its current position and it is still considered to have moved.'

This seems to indicate that just because a squadron doesn't move on the board doesn't mean the speed is 0.

I think of the squads as a constantly moving group of fighters. Even if the don't advance anywhere, they don't just cut their engines and sit.

I had only played one game and didn't use the hero pilots.

Thanks for pointing it out, I didn't even notice those when I looked at the cards.(no sarcasm) ;)
