Check out the pilot select feature.. Whats that in the upper right corner.. Squadron selector? VAS IS ZIS SQUADRON SELECTOR!

The squadron selector is just to select the color of the identifying token displayed on the ship in the map preview, just like those tokens we use on the tabletop have two sides with different colors. Like a skins/shirts effect.

The map editor is described as being intuitive in the "about" section
