Anybody else notice the better quality of armada cards?

By AdmiralThrawn, in Star Wars: Armada

Just picked up my core set and noticed right away that the cards seem much better quality than X Wing. There thicker and have more texture on them, so nice job FFG!

Is this new for Armada, or is this something X Wing lacks compared to other FFG games? I wouldn't know since X Wing is the only other game I play.

Thats funny because when i opened it today i thought they were worse quality. so after reading your post i went and had a look and feel. they are better quality plastic cards rather than card. like the special cards at tournament.

The quality of most everything in the set is excellent. The cards, the bases (heavy duty!), squadrons made it with no broken ships (except for the bent piece here or there).

I agree, and I think this trend will continue since they've learned from X Wing. My only complaint is that it looks like they left some paint off the back of the Nebulon B, probably a manufacturing mistake since its just white.

Even though I shouldn't have expected more the Movement tool does lack the quality of the rest of the pieces. I hope the ones coming seperate are of better quality and not just the same material. It's not brittle, which is great, but it feels like something cheap.

My thoughts exactly about the movement tool: it lacks the more polished and precise look and feel that I figured it was going to have. Probably my least favorite part of the entire package.

Also, I know I've been doing a lot of griping here on the boards, but I really do love the gameplay and execution other than the parts that bother me. I guess it's a bit of a didn't live up to the hype situation. I do agree the cards look and feel great though!

Mine too. I decided not to complain about it and will take this opportunity to put a wash on them. I've never painted before so I'll learn something new. Never had to straighten out minis using the water trick either and I've owned 1000's of minis so I'll be learning about that too.

I may even get up the courage to paint the fighters.

I will say don't turn it over and watch how it actually works. You'll swear the little piece that clicks in is going to snap off on the next click.

I'd be interested if FFG does accelerates life testing on components like this one to see how many clicks it takes before it snaps off or wears down. That would be an interesting study.

Even if it does, they were smart enough to sell one separately.

Was just looking through the damage deck and noticed that each card is labeled by its number out of 52 in small print at the bottom. Good idea on FFGs part, easier to keep track now.

Notice a pattern yet?
