X-83 Twintail fighter & K-wing future release?

By terrymac94, in X-Wing

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It could look like either the back end of a bulldog or Kate Beckinsale on her best day but some people would still love it while others would hate it.

As far as playability, I think we can safely assume that any ship from roughly the correct time period is fair game. The X-83 might be too far out temporally to be included, but the K-Wing is in the right time frame.

I think the K-Wing is a pretty good possibility for a "soonish" release. Right time frame, and we know they are working on a thing to make ordinance playable. The K-Wing is a good choice for a ship to release with ordinance in mind. The trick will be to make it different enough from the y-wing to be a new ship.

here is what im thinking.

y-wing style dial. no turret slot, but has a 90 degree printed primary fire arc to represent the turret. stats 2-2-3-2. 2 missile and torp slots. Has to fire ordinance out of the regular fire arc.

I could believe the K-wing. If Ordnance gets a boost up, then the K-wing is probably big enough to consider making a large ship like the Aggressor - a 'large ship' for the rebels which isn't a pancake with a turret is unique to start with, and we've yet to see a large ship ordnance truck.

Agreed that the X-83 is from too far out in the story. I like the legacy era, but it deserves to be done as its own thing or else left out.

Not knocking your efforts mel, but that K-wing needs a serious redesign. Doesn't look like the Black Fleet one particularly.

It looks pretty accurate to me.

That's a bloody great looking ship.

I'll take two, minimum.

Why on earth would you stick that turret behind the cockpits & that engine right in what little line of sight the rearward facing turret actually has? Odd ship.

You understand that this is space combat the ship is designed for not air combat.

I do understand your confusion as Star Wars has no clue what space combat should look like.

My point is an enemy ship could come from any angle and the heat coming off it's engines would make it detectable from well beyond visual range. Unless it has some form of stealth then it won't get close enough to take advantage of said blind spot.

I could see this as being a candidate for a new base type, the wide base.

Fore and aft it's a small base with port to starboard it's a large base.

Should at least make it different to fly.

As for its turrets, to represent it's close range blind spots, it can't fire at range one.

Primary weapon as a turret?? Turret slot??

Perhaps give it a primary 2 die weapon turret that's only range 2-3 with a printed auxiliary forward for ordinance....

I think that the K wing is looking more likely for Wave 7, most people think that they will add the Havoc bomber for scum, and we know that wave 7 will be an ordnance wave, so I think it will be a "heavy bomber" wave with the Havoc, K Wing and some imperial thing (TIE Heavy Bomber, or that TIE that marks ground targets or the Scimitar)

We'll probably also see a SLAM drive modification that allows you to boost and acquire a target lock. Imperials will probably get some kind of target sharing.

Things I will never get: The iPhone, booties, and now I just don't get K-Wings.

K-Wings: Why?

Things I will never get: ...booties...

It's off-topic, but I can't stop myself. Are you confused about pirate treasure, footwear, or Kim Kardashian's most notable... um, asset?

I'm right with you on the K-wings. Nobody with an ounce of military aerospace sense could possibly like one of those things. It's probably the ugliest Star Wars ship I've ever seen, and that's saying a lot considering some of the stuff you can pull out of comic books.

The K-wing looks like a shovel with wings. I seriously hope it never sees the light of day in X-wing and doesn't include the "ordnance fix". I don't want to buy one.

Considering how easy it is to design cool looking ships, I'm amazed by how often people fail at it.

For butts, well those are butts.

I'm talked about heeled boots that have no shaft.

They're the high heels of socks.

For pirates, booty is already the plural.

You mean women's ankle boots?

No, i mean booties. They don't even reach the ankle.

I'm anti ankle boots too, but that's for the fashion forum

Okay, we're discussing the same thing. I hadn't come across the term bootie, surprisingly. I also don't much care for them, though I know a girl with quite the collection.
