X-83 Twintail fighter & K-wing future release?

By terrymac94, in X-Wing

So it's been on my mind for awhile now about the possibilities for future releases of Rebel ships. I think that there's a high possibility that we'll eventually see some K-wings and X-83's in the near future. If te K-wing and X-83 came out, what role do you think they would fit? What would their upgrade bars look like? I think it would be interesting to include variant ship cards that had different upgrade bars and stats. What do you guys think?

The K-wing would be a large-based ordnance carrier with a native boost. The problem is that it needs to be redesigned to fit the book version of it, because the existing "hammerhead" design is cluttered with badly placed turrets, side-by-side cockpits, etc... (It's still "cute" ugly, but a more accurate model would be nice).

Gonna be honest i've never really liked the design, also isnt it from new jedi era? if so i dont think it exists anymore because of the new movie.

Isn't the X-83 in the "100+ years after Endor" era?

Isn't the X-83 in the "100+ years after Endor" era?

Yes, it is.

I can't imagine them releasing an X-83. It's from several generations in the future, away from the Rebellion era all the rest of these ships are drawing from.

The problem is the timeline, not the power level.

I already have them :D

I agree about the timeline issue, but I was really talking about what new mechanics ships like these two could add to the game. Like maybe allow the K-wing to use two ordinance cards in one turn.

Not completely sold on the k-wings look and the x-83 looks a bit to crimson skys for me. Not insulting crimson skys but it doesnt say star wars to me

It's an insult to Crimson Skies to say those look like something from Crimson Skies. Those planes were **** sexy; I'm not sure I can say the same about these supposed Star Wars ships.

Not knocking your efforts mel, but that K-wing needs a serious redesign. Doesn't look like the Black Fleet one particularly.

It looks pretty accurate to me.

The roles they will play will be ugliest ships in the Rebel arsenal. Really... really hope the K-wing never sees light of day in XWM. In addition to being ugly (IMO) it is one of the poorest (as in makes no sense/crappy design aesthetics) designs in a universe of questionable designs... but also some iconic and beautiful ones :)

Why on earth would you stick that turret behind the cockpits & that engine right in what little line of sight the rearward facing turret actually has? Odd ship.

Yes, it reflects the source picture... it doesn't reflect the one in the book. Take off the turrets, put the third engine on the bottom, and put the pilot/bombardier seats one behind the other and it'll start to look like the one in the books.

It's still a butt-ugly ship either way. :)

This.

I hope these things never appear in XWing.

Horrid looking ships. Not cool ugly like the Y, just ugly.

Like warts.

I've never seen the time a ships from canonically as much of a problem, why does that imply they are empirically better when galactic civilization is so enormously old? I tend to just look on the differences as expressions of economic, political, military and aesthetic concerns rather than technological ones.

Like a tie fighter could probably have been given life support, but why bother? they don't have shields and any breach in the hull would kill the pilot stone dead if they were in a rebels open helmeted garb (I think the rebels are supposed to have a personal force field around them in emergencies). But you are the empire people are a cheap resource give them a cheap suit and churn out a gillion ties for them.

iam so for those ships love the design from these X83 they look like WW2 bomber planes from the germans the B-106-C and his other variations

What? No. It's not about power level, it's about verisimilitude. Why would they work so hard to stick to the classical Rebellion-era, and then just randomly insert some ship hardly anyone remembers, from 125 years in the game's future? There are tons of extended universe ships that could perform the X-83's "like an X-Wing, but better" role already (like the E-Wing already does). Why would they throw the timeline out the window and just randomly pluck some ship from like four generations down the road, and not even a particularly iconic or fan-favorite one, at that?

It is basically a space Apache helicopter with the "K" wing configuration and enough engines to justify its SLAM system capabilities. Without seeing one how can you even call it ugly?

Because the changes you suggested wouldn't change the look of the ship that much. Anyway, how can you say it's like an apache helicopter if you haven't seen it either?

Simply put, it's got one seat behind the other and wing hardpoints out the wazoo. That's pretty Apache-ish. Under those circumstances the hammerhead goes away and the profile gets more streamlined and sexy, while fully demonstrating that it's a dedicated anti-capital ship craft, which is the K-wing's stated role.
