What Sub-forums do we want?

By spacemonkeymafia, in Star Wars: Armada

We did this in Xwing and then soon after Imperial Assault arrived, we did it again, so lets gets some organization in here as well.

I don't know if we need as many sub-forums as Xwing but I was thinking:

  • Rules Questions
  • Painting and Conversions
  • Battle Reports

Any thoughts? Additions? Subtractions? If we can get some semblance of agreement, FFG mods will create the sub-forums for us.

Squad builds ? Organized play ?

Great idea. I think a newbie section for any latecomers in coming months. Also, some sort of speculation room for all the crazy talk about ships that may never be, and what their stats are.

Other than that, all I want is an Admiral's Lounge where I can sit with a port and my pipe and discuss fleet tactics...

Off topic of course. So we can talk about the upcoming movies and the Rebels show.

Tactics deserves its own sub-forum even though it could fit in with a combined Fleet Building/Tactics sub-forum.

Oh oh, we need a Sub-Forum for all threads that have been turned into a discussion about Super Star Destroyers. ;)

Basically same as X-Wing eventually, but it's too small to worry right now.

I'd say;

General discussion, where you discuss new releases, general throughts and querries about the game, discuss individual ships, tactics ect ect.

Fleet Building; So lists you want reviewed and that.

Organized play; Talk about the competitive scene, and organising games ect ect

Battle Reports: self explanitory

off-topic: See above.

We don't need to much, and yeah it is for future consideration more.

I can't believe no one has mentioned the most obvious, required sub-forum:

SSD Discussion ;)

EDIT: Realized that I missed the previous SSD joke within seconds after clicking post. I'm going to have to use Leia's ability to change my orders...

These would be useful if everyone used them lol

Not sure if it's on the list already, but:

1) New players forum

2) Modeling/painting forum

3) SSD/Epic forum (so i don't have to read all that crap)

I'll meet you there at noon with Star Wars refferences in hand. ;)

This sub-forum MUST be named "The Tarkin Doctrine."

So do FFG staff post here and read these forums often? Because after several threads getting derailed into rules discussions (I am at fault for that too.) it would be really nice to have a forum to direct those conversations to. And the sooner the better.

I'll send an email to get some sub forums added. Hopefully by tomorrow.

I think a few board sub-forums is best, rather than lots of very specific ones - too many is worse than none IMO.

I'd say keep it to something like this:

Rules

Fleet Builds

Painting & Modelling

Everything is falls into the "general" category which is covered by the main Armada forum.

Tech support forum? Or i guess tie that into the "new player" forum with some sticky posts about support (bad paintjob, broken/bent model, missing parts, etc).

Won't new players be covered by a "Rules" forum? Pretty much all the questions they will be asking will be rules related, and for the few that are not the main forum will be just fine - don't need a special forum just for that.

If you have too many sub-forums, people will post in the wrong place and checking new posts becomes a chore.

Thanks All! I sent a message to a Moderator and hopefully we can get some of these added ASAP.

I received an email reply an hour ago and have sent him the list from this thread. Should be up soon.

Just got email saying they are there now and I see they are.

I wouldn't disagree with you, I was just thinking it's always nice to know there is a place you can go in the forums where people are expected to have their "safety on" in regards to forum discussions. Where a new player can feel confident in asking a "dumb" question that a vetren player might have seen 500 times already.

Sub-Forums are up.

No "Tarkin Doctrine" sub-forum
