There isn't really any specific order. The smaller expansions aren't really even campaigns, they are just played off rumor cards. So they can actually happen during campaigns. Shadows or Nerkenhall and Labrynth of Ruin are two fully fledged campaigns. Hope that helps.
thanks I thought so...thanks for the reply!

The small box expansions can be played as independent "mini-campaigns." They're 4 quests long- you can find the rules online (look up the Trollfens rulebook, for example.) These quests can also be incorporated into larger campaigns as Rumors.
Big boxes come with 4 heroes, 4 classes, and usually 3 monsters and some lieutenants. Small boxes have 2 heroes, 2 classes, 2 monster groups, and a lieutenant. Both offer new cards- you can see the component lists in the online rulebooks.
Edited by ZaltyreIf money is not a limitation, I recommend going for a big box expansion.
Shadow of Nerekhall introduces very interesting mechanics.

One small correction: Mists of Bilehall is technically a small-box expansion cannot be incorporated into a bigger campaign, and does not have any rumor cards.
I do believe this is true for The Chains that Rusts, too, but I'm not sure.

Look at the DJ-XX numbers for every expansion. The whole list of these has also been posted a few times before
Personally I would go with Shadow of Nerekhall first. Imo it has a more interesting setting, a better campaign, the more interesting heroes and monsters and hero classes (compared to Labyrinth of Ruin). The only thing Labyrinth of Ruins has above Nerekhall from a gameplay perspecitve imo, is that it comes with a second basic OL deck which I find very enjoyable to use. Also the miniatures of Labyrinth of Ruins are much better than the ones in Shadow of Nerekhall, so if you are in it for painting the miniatures you might be bit dissapointed, if not the differences aren't that noticeable (as is shown by nearly all reviewers who don't even mention this).
