Got my organizer.

You know how on ebay shipping is like $15 for anything from a small card to a jewel box (things that should not cost $15 to ship) because the seller is trying to show a low "price" and get money back on the shipping?

That is NOT the case with Gothsonika. My package came packaged in at least $8 worth of materials, and it was WELL wrapped. Each piece separately taken care of in it's own little bubble. So I say to anyone who is looking at that $15 in shipping and going "Man that is a bit pricey for shipping", JUST DO IT! I suspect that had he not taken the care that he did, the box insert would have arrived broken. Don't get me wrong, it is very well constructed, and sturdy. But the mail people in my area are reaaaaaly rough with packages. They even managed to destroy a box of dragon shields I ordered.

And on to the actual insert. My god I love this thing, and I cannot wait for you to get the Descent one done! I have now taken my inserts in and out of the box like 10 times, just to enjoy how easy it is to setup a game. Easily cut 10 to 15 minutes off of my setup and break down time. And I suspect that will get even faster as I get used to the tile placements. Not only that, but now I don't have to worry about organizing the tokens and cards around the game board either. As they all have their own modular homes.

Tonight is board game night with a local group that meets up at a Denny's for various games. Usually about 15 to 30 people show up. And several play IA. This arrived just in time for me to show it off. Goth, you should have included business cards in my box

*edit* do you have something small in mind for those of us who might be buying multiple wave 1's, that would match up with this? Not go inside the box mind you. Right now my second set of sabs fits on top of two of my other chars, but I have no idea what I'm going to do if I get more reb troopers than what I have.

I considered adding business cards! But that takes away from designing other stuff, playing games, and my ever growing backlog of minis I need to paint! Thanks for the wonderful review!

I agree with all of this. While I was waiting for it to ship I was second guessing my purchase, but now that I have it its money well spent. It's just incredibly easy to pack up and even to just have easy trays of tokens during play.

I also got the boards for characters which worked out great (less so for the imp player, but that's probably an impossible task) the rebels love theirs. Made it super easy to keep track of everything.

I love the design and i don't have money to pay the HDF version so i want to make foam core, more cheap version.

For the original foamcore version, I created the rough layout in sketchup, but modified it as I assembled and test fit the pieces with a lot of trial and error. I made a 2nd foamcore insert, and found it to be just as much work as the first since the design file wasn't accurate to the final creation. I'm not even sure I have that file anymore, as I used it as the basis for the HDF version.

Really looking forward to the wave 2 version. Any plans? Thinking of waiting until the extra announced units from "waves" 3 and 4 are available or just guesstimating sizes for the?

I love this foam board idea... I have a whole box of the stuff, so once my "office" desk (read: studio, geek bench, workshop) is in this week, I think I may replicate... Good job!

True, but it may fit in the Hoth expansion's box. And both the Bantha and that expansion are quite a ways down the road.

My copy of Twin Shadows should be here on Friday... I'll make best guesses for the figure packs that aren't released yet. Bantha looks like it MAY be smaller if you lay it on its side.

I've got a rough design made for the storage. The cards go in the core set, and tiles and models in the expansion box. It has two trays: a removable multilevel tile tray that sits on a figure tray at the bottom. The figure tray has a bantha rider on it's side (should only raise the box slightly, and compartments for 12 additional figures of various sizes for duplicate figure packs for skirmish.

I should be able to cut a prototype this weekend.

Nah, the main box Inserts can already hold two. That's a shot in the dark at the Bantha I think.

Correct! Guess I should have mentioned that... it's 3" x 4 1/8" x 2 1/16", which judging by the pics and comparing it to an at-st, should be ample room. The AT-ST does NOT fit in there.

That's an interesting idea I hadn't considered. It could work for the first, maybe 2nd expansion, but then would get to unwieldy. Besides, I like the artwork on the boxes.

The insert is really great, I was going to order the core set and 1st expansion but the shipping fees are way too expensive for Europe.
