Can I get a refund on my 3 tie phantoms?

By indyXwinger, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Tried using Whisper and Echo as paper weights but the shape of the ship and weight aren't worth the money. My neighbor gave me a rock for free.

Thanks FFG for ruining the imperial meta because of the whiny rebel players that spend more time on here complaining than learning how to beat Whisper and Echo, which everyone I know can.

Below is my exact feelings about this (funny, but true):

No.

No.

Thanks, DR4CO, for hosting tonight's episode of Short Answers to Simple Questions! Tune in next time...

Some dudes are looking at this as a plus. Now you get to do your decloak and block someone before anyone else gets to move.

ebay is handling refunds, I believe.

So, first off, if you'd only ever wanted to run Echo and/or Whisper, why do you have 3 Phantoms?

If the different timing of the decloak makes the Phantom useless to you, stop whining and learn flying.

Would you like some cheese with that whine?

Oh, boo hoo...

I am starting a home for retired phantoms. Feel free to send them to me and I will make sure they have a long and productive life in the 4-way 800 point mega swarm games we play.

Its obvious the phantom's rules were a design defect, so as a defectuous product it is rigth to be able to retrurn than defectuous prduct.

So now we've got to listen to whiny Empire players spending lots of time on here complaining about how their game changing ship got nerfed, instead of learning how to use the new mechanic to their benefit.

Cheers

If you ever planned on running three Phantoms then the new ruling is actually a great excuse.

IF refunds were going to get handed out it should be to those who only bought one or two Phantoms to run Whisper and Echo.

Why is this thread in the rules forum?

Yeah... damned good question. More to the point, why is this thread even in existence?

You had nine months of use so no refund, now either learn to adapt or go the way of the dinosaurs.

What you have is 3 Tacticians that came with free ships.

No, what he has is three perfectly usable Phantoms, both before and after the rules change.

They're less powerful than they were, in some ways (and a bit more powerful in a couple of others). But the adjustment was designed to make them appropriately powerful given their cost, rather than too powerful.

Yeah I know - was just trying to give him a silver lining ;)

I just happy there are phantoms with a move (decloak) unique from other ships/games. I don't know if I've ever wanted Phantoms to be the end all be all. But having a couple to use in thematic scenarios is still cool.

Please don't lump all imperial-minded players in here. Some of us were just as frustrated by the phantom shrinking of our own competitive lists and didn't fly it.

Personally. I find his lack of faith disturbing...

Did the rebel players get a refund for all of their x and y wings when the phantom came out and made them useless? I think they may have done an exchange program to trade them for falcons, cuz I sure did see a lot of those.

To be fair, those ships had problems long before the Phantom arrived. The Y-wing was never that hot, and the X-wing had the existence of the B-wing to contend with.

This right here is what I am looking forward to doing....Oh my cloak goes now and looks like that ship of yours is about to crash and not get an action. Then I get to move and then set an action. Can't wait to cause this frustration with my local group!

I agree, Red Skull. I feel that the new rule actually makes phantoms MORE powerful than before. They can no longer be blocked into having no decloak option by lower PS pilots that move right before them. AND the phantoms now move first and can be used to block ships of all PS.

I ran Whisper for the first time at my weekly store game night last Friday (in fact, as a Rebel player, it was my first time playing imperial) and I found the new decloak rules were very powerful. You sacrifice little in decloaking first, but gain more, IMO.

I went 2-0... one match vs a fat han and yt-2400 and the other was a tie intercepter mini swarm (5 of them, all with auto thrusters).
