Bounties to Die For

By mouthymerc, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hey mouthymerc, you've inspired me to make a thing. Thank you again so much.

This is very cool. Do you make them just like regular characters since they are nemesis? And what about minions and rivals, what are they based on? Are there rules for making and balancing adversaries or do you just base it on the ones that already exist?

Awesome work on these, although I'm not sure why some GM's would gauge whether or not their bounty hunter players could handle it (unless of course they work for a bounty hunters guild agent) when it comes to freelance/independent bounty hunters thats part of the risk and thrill is not knowing if this hunt could be your last.....babying your players completely takes the fun out of bounty hunting (or any star wars adventure for that matter)....just saying...in my humble opinion. DOWN WITH GM FLUFFING AND SCALING! LOL, keep the galaxy a big and dangerous universe and stay frosty!

Those payouts seem "big".

They are all also nemesis level opponents, not small fish.

Most of these characters in a straight up fight would not last against any group. Many of them would have henchmen and minions. Otherwise, for the individuals, the majority of any chase would be just that, the chase. Trying to track them down. An end fight might become more interesting due to terrain and such though if they are an individual. It doesn't always have to come down to combat. A big chase with rolls in Athletics, Perception, Stealth and whatever other skills are deemed appropriate can be just as much fun as a combat with lots of rolls. I love the idea of complex skills tests.

There are a lot of ways for a single target to split up a group. Take a look at Maul's fight with Anakin and Obi-wan, Dooku's fight with Anakin and Obi-wan (any of them), Bane's fight with Obi-wan and Vos... A fighting retreat across a properly prepared battlefield by an opponent who has guile and toys can be quite challenging. Heck, it's the entire plot of several Batman arcs.

These are a great resource, absolutely, thank you again.

I think they just sound big because Han Solo's bounty from Jabba was AT LEAST 17,000c. I'm guessing, but sticking strictly to canon, that's what he accepted from Kenobi and commented that it would really save his neck.

And then the mighty Chewbacca was worth 50,000c (no less), but that deal was talked down to 35,000.

So I don't know, maybe they just look big because the most expensive (non-Hutt-only) armor in the game is 9,000c.

The bounty poster that you get in the Bounty Hunter Codex Vault Edition states a 250.000 credit bounty on Han Solo and a 50.000 Credit bounty on Chewie.

I think the 17.000 that you're referring to was just the debt that Han owed to Jabba.

Jabba didn't post a bounty on Han until after he failed to pay that debt in Ep IV.

(Also, I think the 17.000 wasn't the full debt, but more a downpayment on the full debt)

I think this would be a great addition to the "Compiled Resources" thread.

Seconded.

It's also worth remembering that at that point, Jabba still liked Han. The bounty was small mainly to light a fire under his butt to ensure Han would start making good on his debt and to ensure no one else followed his example.

That's an Imperial Bounty, though...

Hey, Mouthymerc, do you have the template you used for these?

Seconded. I was about to ask the same question.

For the wanted posters I used this generator. For the stat blocks OggDude's FANTABULOUS Character Generator. If you're not using it "Shame on you!"

@mouthymerc, while I hate to dig up an old thread, I wondered if you could provide direct links to the images. My PCs are hunting Stormtooper X, and I’d like to use your stats, but as posted, the images have a big watermark obscuring the text.

I suppose if I’m digging up an old thread, your efforts here are worthy of digging up.

The statblock was exported from Oggdude's character generator. You can enter in the stats listed on the stat block under GM Tools>Adversaries and you can print out a non-watermarked copy.

Mouthymerc may be able to export the info and send an XML file for you but it's fairly easy to reenter. If you aren't using the tool, I highly recommend taking a look at it.

Love seeing these converted! Wanted by Cracken from WEG D6 is another spot to find great art/story and stat blocks worthy of conversion for bounties!

Some of us can't use Oggdude's generator.

Do you realize you are responding to a post that is almost 3 years old?

Old or new, does anyone know of a bounty hunter themed adventure? I want to give our bounty hunter a challenge but miss a proper hook. Unfortunately I am very bad at writing my own adventures.

Under a Black Sun

Thank you very much. I also found the fan-made intro Black Sun Rising. That'll be our next adventure...
