Starting Speed

By zraktor, in Star Wars: Armada

Hi,

Questions after first game and rule reread.

Can you choose your own starting speed or is it 2 by default ? (can't find this in rules anywhere for my own sanity quote page please :) )

also from how i read the rules you can only receive one face up damage card per attack even if you were hit by 2 crits ? ( not including any upgrades)

thanks

Ya, I read through the setup rules and did not see anything about starting speed. In the game I played we went with 2 speed to start because that is what the starter scenerio did.

No clue about the crit thing.

I need to sit down for 2 hrs and read both books front to back this weekend.

Correct. If you roll two critical hits with one dice roll you would still be able to activate only 1 critical effect (this limit includes critical special abilities.) "Extra" critical results still apply 1 damage, though.

Rules Reference Guide, Page 10, Setup, under item 6, Deploy Ships.

"Ships must be placed within their player’s deployment zones. When a player places a ship, he must set its speed dial to a speed available on its speed chart."

great thanks :)

OK, so it can be any speed then. Does that include speed 0? I kind of assume no because there is no speed 0 on the speed chart. But this means the corvette could start at speed 4 out of the gate (or 3 + nav command). That makes rebels alot more appealing to me.
