Modified YT2400 for Scum & Villainy......New Member.

By Barry Harker, in X-Wing

Hello Guys,

I Have been spending a long time looking over your post's and Fantastic Photos of your models.

and I have found them to be very Inspiring.......to the point I decided to join in the FUN :)

Only recently just got into X Wing.

And what a Fantastic game it is too !

and Being a keen Model maker in my Hobby and profession. I thought it was about time I started Modifying

some of my Models.

I have already noticed it is very easy to spend a lot of money on these models.

only been playing and collecting for 6 weeks, and already spent a small fortune buying repeat models to Modify.

And as the YT2400 is one of my all time fave star wars vehicles.

I thought I would start with that and build it in the Guise of the Scum & Villainy guise..........

Welcome! That looks incredible!

(moar pics!!!)

Here is How I went about Modifing my YT,

First thing I wanted to do was change the design of the Cockpit, and turn into more of a tandem fighter style cockpit.

and then add an air breathing Engine to the back with air intakes and scoop's.

3_zpsadalpdwh.jpg

1_zpsaqdc2s0j.jpg

Also built up the engines with Styrene strips and card to add Thrust Vectoring paddles on the back of each engine nacelle.

and added an Extra weapons section to off side of the Hull, as this ship will be aimed at Attack and defence.....not Transportation :P

4_zpsvaxayien.jpg

The Front section is a bank of sensors and Droid components all mashed together......Helping the Pirate at the controls to cause Mayhem !

the parts are all from Tank kits, Battleship model and Styrene strips. and the cannons on the side top and bottom are from the

Games workshop Tau Models.

Thanks

JaggedLittleFel :)

I have plenty of Pic's from the build.

Enjoy ;)

Would love to see a non-blurred version of that paintjob. :)

Thanks for sharing your excellent conversion and paint work... wow!

:)

I then Sprayed the model in Grey Primer to see if everything worked together, and roughed in what the Cockpit canopy windows might look like.

I drew them on with a 00.5 fine liner. as the nib is small enough to draw on the detail.

Hello Digital and Joe,

Thank you and yes, I have more pics....and of the finished paint job :)

The YT was then sprayed Black, and then certain areas were then masked with tape and blue tak.......or white in this case !

Blue Tak is great for masking as it allows you to get right into the nooks and crannys, and you can push it it and move it around with

a sharp tool to cover where you need........

Just to be sure you know... this is the place to buy from when you are being ridiculous and building fleets.

Welcome aboard!

:D

Then the careful task of masking individual panels, and dry brushing coloured layers over a Base brown over spray.

Something I found some years ago.....plastic decorating jewels.

13_zpsnyykoq5w.jpg

You can get them in many colours, and sizes.

and I use them for Engine Glow in the back of aircraft and spaceships, when the light hits them, they Glow and sparkle !

its a hell of a lot easier than adding lights into a model

I also like to use coloured pencils to shade panels and add dirt and grime to certain areas.

Thanks Joe,

Even though I am in the UK,

I have purchased from them before when Bulking up my War at Sea Axis & Allies Fleets.

Thanks a lot,

Barry :D

Sharing is caring and what not. I fell in love with STAR WARS all over againg after FFG started making all of these wonderful toys, so it has been a big joy to build my collection at a reasonable price.

:D

Yes I agree with you there Joe,

Me and a good friend whom I Play Xwing with have been long time Star Wars Fans.

and due to this game.......and this FORUM !

it has got me back into Star Wars, and what a good year to be into all things star wars :P

All the Best,

Barry :D

I've been asked several times if I were to mod that ship what I would do.. I likes this..

A lot.

I may have to get another 2400 now...

Looking forward to seeing more work from you Mr. Harker!

:D

This is just beautiful. Extremelly over the top, but awesome.

Yup!

:)

Oh I like this one! I think I can recognise quite a few Tau bits but it's still a very nice conversion.

DUDE! Where do I start?!? The rework on the engines is seriously cool. Love the gemstome implants and vectored thrust paddles. What a great idea. All the extra bits of detailing around the nose look awesome. And the cockpit module looks fantastic. Superb paintjob.

I only have one question. Why aren't you working for FFG?

Awesome job. The camo paint and "mask" on the front makes me think of Bane when I see your ship.

The 40K stuff does work for a few cool converted models. I have some very nice Large Ships planned with bits and kits from gw. Bandai has some cool bits too
