ISD Size?

By NeverTellMeTheOdds, in Star Wars: Armada

Anyone have any idea yet on the size of the ISD? From the looks of it next to the cards, the base size seems to be about 5". The way it hangs over the base, if I were to guess, I'd say it's somewhere between 8-9" long.

There was a good topic on a little while ago. For the life of me I can't find it now....

There was a great picture showing the estimated size of the ISD. It will fit on an 11x8.5 sheet of paper, but it will be big. Sorry I can't be of more help!

If we knew the size of the ISD, what would we post about? ;)

The large base size is listed as 129mm long. Measuring the small and medium bases in my set, the actual items are 1-3mm larger than the listed size (maybe the listed size is for the cardboard counter that goes on the base?).

I measured my VSD model at 140mm. Based on all this, estimates for the ISD model range from about 170mm - <250mm, so yeah right in the 8 to 9 inch range. My current estimate is 193mm... but no, the player community does not yet know for sure how big any of the Wave 2 models are.

Thats gonna be one BIG ship on the table! I wonder if it will have the same manuverability as the VSD, or if they will make it worse? I'm not sure how much worse it could be though. Being speed 1 would be pretty rough... Let the speculation begin!

Oh, I also hope they have them in time for GenCon.

I can't find the picture anymore, but I seem to remember a picture of it along side a Victory class and it was only about 50% longer. I am pretty sure it was on the same sized base.

Hrathen,

You keep saying its on the same sized base, but it's not. People keep dispelling this over and over. Why do you still think it is on the same sized based?

It's definitely not on the same size base. Look at the pictures of it compared to the cards next to it. They had to zoom way out just to fit it into the pictures, compared to the pictures of other ships. if it were the same size base, it would be the same size as VSD, since they both hang off about the same amount. 50% bigger than the VSD would put it at 8.25 inches or so.

I measured my VSD model at 140mm. Medium bases are listed at 102mm in length, giving the VSD a factor of ~1.37x the base. If the ISD has the same factor, then it will be 177mm / 8 inches. From the one picture we have to go off of, I think the ISD overhangs a little bit more, so 8.25" is a pretty reasonable estimate.

I read in another thread that the SSD (Super Star Destroyer, the Executor class...that's the big ship that you see at the end of The Empire Strikes back and the big ship that the A Wing crashes into during the attack on the 2nd Death Star), would measure 19,000 meters long (or 19km, or also 11.8 miles). That's *huge*. How would you get something like that represented in Star Wars: Armada if the Imperial Star Destroyer is 8-9 inches long? Could it even be done? And if it could, I find myself wondering, how would it be balanced ?

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I thought we were keeping the SSD talk in the SSD thread, it was supposed to be the chosen one! It was supposed to bring balance to the forums!

Although it is getting a little ungainly, maybe we should cut some limbs off and start anew :)

I don't know maybe they are different size, but they don't seem that much different if they are.

there it only looks 33% bigger than the VSD. And if so, there is no reason they can't do a SSD.

A SSD is 19,000 meters long.

Stop the SSD talk please, we don't need to derail every thread with SSD talk.

ISD look stop be about the size of the Rebel Transport from X-Wing.

A SSD is 19,000 meters long.

Roughly 12x the length of the ISD. The ISD is ~1.78x the length of the VSD, so...

I'll just bring my 49" Lego version to the table. It'll fit. And have like 20 hull zones, just because.

An inch difference wont be that noticable. Especially the way they are positioned.

Where did you find that picture Hrathen? And thanks for sharing!

Actually it's not, since it is fictional.

The truth is that its length is reported differently in different material.

I don't know where I found the first time, but then it took a while before I found it again. Eventually I just googled "Star Wars Armada Wave 2"

Were there any more previews/comparison shots?

Oh! CHeck this out! sw_armada_2_orydib.jpg

It looks like it hangs over the front of the base quite a bit more than the VSD.

How long and broad is it?
