Understanding some cards?

Look up "Critical Effects" in the Rules Reference :)

Dodanna's Pride

The Blue [critical] is a requirement to trigger the card. The effect you get from the card replaces the default critical effect you get (which is to deal the first damage card face up). If you have a blue die with a [critical] symbol, you may choose to use it to trigger this alternative critical effect. In this instance you will not deal damage like normal, applying it to shields and then hull, but rather you will deal a face up damage card. This card allows you to bypass shields and deal those crippling face up damage cards.

Assault Concussion Missles

Again, this one is an alternative critical effect, but this one is triggered with a critical from a black die. You will apply damage to the target hull zone like usual. You can use the critical to apply a single damage to adjacent zones. For instance you are targeting the front hull zone, which still has 2 shields, you've rolled 3 hits and a black critical. You will apply 4 damage to the front hull zone, stripping the 2 shields, and adding 2 face down cards. If you use the default critical effect the first damage is face up. However, if you use the effect from this card instead, you apply a damage to the left and right hull zones, since they're adjacent. If one of those zones no longer has shields, the damage is applied to the hull.

This one is a trade off between raw damage output versus a potentially crippling critical damage card.

Hope that helps!

I had the same queering about "Dodanna's Pride" for 6pts it seems to good to be true that you can just bypass shields and deal crits like that!

The other query I had was with Ships shooting at squadrons rules:

"Attacking Squadrons with a Ship. When a ship attacks a squadron, it can perform one attack against each squadron inside the firing arc and at attack range of the attacking hull zone. Each attack is resolved separately"

So I'm pretty sure we're doing it right. Last night I had my Neb B Escort on the flank. In the center were 5 squads of tie's all at medium to long range and all in one ark. So I shot at them rolling a total of 10 blue dice (2 at a time for each). This just ripped through the ties in no time and seemed overly effective.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but blue dice can only be used out THROUGH medium range, so if they were at long range you wouldn't be able to use the anti squadron weaponry.

Second off, I've found that even rolling 2 blue dice against a squadron one has to be LUCKY to make quick work of them, especially considering crit hits are not counted as hits of any sort.

However, 2 blue dice at a tie fighter squadron will on average do 1 damage, making it much easier for an x wing squadron to come in and deal the requisite 2 damage to finish it off in a single volley

Ah good point on the range missed that.

Still getting used to whats on what dice but they were all direct hits (damage icon) on two dice I was usually getting one hit per roll. ...just checked the Blue dice and they have 4 hits per dice so 50% chance per dice. Considering that if a x-wing squadron attacks a squadrons its get 4 blue against that single squadron, Being able to target every enemy squadron at "medium range" with 2 blue dice with a single attack from 1 ark is pretty **** nice ^^ and as stated it makes it much easyer for the x-wings to then mop up.
