Core Set Mini Size

By Utar, in Star Wars: Armada

Here's a picture with some of the small capital ships from SW Miniatures Starship Battles. The Armada ships are on either end. As you can see they aren't too far off. The two transports (I think the brown one is some sort of transport) and the EP1 cruiser would work well as objectives or some sort of convoy. I can't recall what that weird Nebulon-B thing is. It's got two front wings and fins in the back. The names for these miniatures were on the bases and I tossed them long ago.

It's a MK1 assault frigate. The one I wish they had made.

Here's the VSD next to some SWMSB ships from the prequels. These ships are seriously undersized but, since they never share screen time, they might still work.

Actually, that Acclamator model is very close to being in scale with the Victory. The Acclamator, according to Wookipedia, was 756 meters long. Also, th Interdictor model that was in SWMSB is just bearly under sized as well. Both those models might be useful in this game, maybe not as actual fighting units, but as objectives, terrain, etc.

The Acclamator should be the same size as the Victory, not half it's size. It's half the size of the ISD, not the Victory. I still plan on using mine as imperial transports though.

The VSD is 900 meters. Every source Ive seen for the Acclamator says 753-756. I never said anything about ships being half of anything's size. Can you direct me to a source for the Acclamator being the same size as a Victory? I think you are confusing it with a Venator which is larger at 1,137 meters.

Thanks guys! Very helpful. I will post some comparison size pics of some other custom minis I have when I get my core set Monday.

Did you give your Nebulon B a wash? There is a problem with many mdoels having only basic white? coat on the rear section.

What's the height of the VSD? I'm guessing 1.5"?

Good pictures of the scales. FFG's stuff actually stands out against the rest.

I posted this elsewhere, but here is the Victory against a couple of Mon Cal ships.

Big one is a Viscount from Starship battles....i'll likely use this as an MC80 9as they had endless looks).

Smaller one is an Odyssey Slipways MC80b. This i will likely custom stat as a smaller Mon Caol ship or a cruise liner for objectives.

Here's Armada's VSD next to some of the SWMB Imperials. The paint on these are weird. It's like some sort of digital camo pattern. The Interdictor looks like a bumpy camo Dorito. They are much worse in person. The middle ship is the ISD.

The interdictor seems just about right, 600 vs 900 meters. Which is good, because I picked up a couple interdictors on the cheap just in case ffg never produces their own.

No washing by me, that's how it came out of the box. I did pick the best paint job from about 6 or 7 different starter boxes. None of them, however, were as bad as the one that was posted recently.

The VSD is about 49mm thick but about 9 or 10 mm of that is a very fragile looking antenna. The part where you stick the base in is exactly aligned with the thickest part of the model so it actually sits on a table perfectly flat. In those pictures it isn't propped up at all.

Thanks, that gives me hope that my copy will be fine. I should have it after easter.
